The pups took in the news with varying reactions. Truth's was the strangest. He possessed a quiet wisdom beyond his years and nodded slowly at Silverfang without betraying his emotions. East and West cast excited glances at each other and started murmuring things to each other. Mist tensed and lowered her center of gravity as if the first battle-training was about to begin at any moment. Her eyes glowed in anticipation. Ranger gave his littler-mates a few concerned glances to make sure they were not nervous and then met Silverfang's eyes with a confident stare of his own. Satisfied that everyone took the news well, Silverfang rose and padded out of her den and down to the pool with her pups following close behind.
