Torka wagged his tail limply and nodded, following Ayets steps but then trailing off and sitting on a high bunch of rocks. Like Toko did, he gave Ayet room to think, but had the advantage where he could stop people from bothering the alpha. He sat down and watched the pack, wondering if he'd have to shoo anyone away.

Anwell had done it.
Successfully binding thick, rope-like branches together, he had wrapped the coils around each of his paws. It would make his paw tracks less easy to follow, and he decided that he'd go follow where the wind was blowing, so his scent wouldn't be tracked. He looked back through the bushes, seeing Ayet trying to tell everyone what was going on.
He was going to tell everybody about sticking together, and helping each other no matter what.
"This is life, Ayet. And sometimes, we must make sacrafices." Anwell muttered to himself, before trodding on through the forest, his paw tracks were covered up, and his scent blew the other way.

He felt a sense of relief, but also a sense of guilt. Anwell was no doubt one of the smartest pack members there, and yet he was betraying them like an evil soul.
It has to be done, Anwell continued saying in his mind as he got further, and further away.

Torka lifted his head and stood up on the mini-hill of rocks he was on. He could just see Anwells tail dissapearing in the forest. He tilted his head and begun to whine with excitement, loss, sadness, a random mix of emotions all at once and he did the only thing he was programmed to do when he felt them: Howl. He tilted his head back, pulled back his ears and parted his jaws, pushing out a loud - yet high pitched - howl meant for Anwell. It had no words that wolves could pick up, yet it was tinged heavily with excitement and dripping with the acid smell of fear.

With his howl finished, he looked down at the bush and frowned. "He's gone, Torka." He told himself mentally. "But I hope he heard my goodbye. Fool, i'll miss him." He sat back down, and looked at the floor. Then, after a moment, he looked back up to the dark sky and tilted his head. "What if I am the fool, for staying with a demon ridden pack? As much as I love the female, like an aunt," He reminded himself, "What if Chee does turn? Then what? Im not experienced and we have babies in the pack. Me and the kids are basically defenceless... apart from these!" He bared his teeth at nothing in particular and whirled, snapping at the air, snarling, barking! He messed about, wagging his tail furiously.

Anwell looked up at the sky, seeing Torka through the canopy of the forest. He had howled for him, and it had struck his heart like a sword through a body.
He felt guilty for leaving his pack, he really did. But it was for the best. Chee was sure to turn. He thought about Torka, and wondered why he had howled. Maybe it was because he was going to be missed.

He stopped, and took a deep breath, he lowered his head, and then lifted it with uttermost grace, letting a low and smooth howl go through the air. Anwell knew it would make his position unsecure, but he had to reply back to Torka and let him know that everything would be ok.
"Torka...If you ever need me, you can find me. I'll always be one step behind..." Anwell mumbled to himself, secretly hoping that the message somehow got through to Torka. He knew it wouldn't, but it was worth a try.

Anwell began to pad onwards, keeping his head held high.

Torka suddenly stopped fighting invisible demons, concocted by his imagination, and looked in the howls direction. He lifted his head and smiled. "Maybe... Maybe Anwells leaving won't be so bad, so hard." He thought, happily panting down in Anwells direction. Then, his grin fell from his face. He'd forgotten the promise. He looked about himself, then looked up to the sky. "Shoot! I need a cover for the howling!" He leaned down, into a play bow, and started yiiping like a coyote, making a racket. He threw himself around and howled, wooping into the shadows, teasing the demons until he heard a twig snap.

He looked into the shadows and watched as a squirrel leapt from the depths of the black cavern. Torka lifted his head and grinned. "You aren't so sca-" Then a thin line of shadow launched forward and dragged the screaming squirrel backward. Torka stared for a moment, then whined as he saw glittering yellow eyes in the shadows, and the foul copper stench of blood hit his nose. He lost control of his legs and sat on his haunches, fur bristled.

It took a show of the squirrels mutilated remains to get Torka running. He literally fell down from the mound of rocks, landing on his paws by a stroke of goodluck, and looked up just in time to see the demons smile erupt from the shadows and give off the shine of many shark-like teeth. Torka growled and barked up at the demon; "Im not afraid of you!" He lied, bravely walking half way up the rocks until he saw the shadow looming and looked up at the demon.

The demon was only a fox, but it was enough to turn Torka into a full blown adult demon wolf. He could kill his entire pack, destory the next generation, mutilate the alpha and rip off the heads of the female wolves, if he was bitten. He watched as the fox tilted its head. Torka had only just turned one, and hadn't seen much of the world, so couldn't help but cringe when the fox's head split and gave way to a massive hole in its neck that had teeth protruding from every piece of flesh on it. 'You aren't afraiiiiid~!' It sang, and Torka tilted his head as he realised that the gaping wound was actually a mouth. 'You aren't afraiiiiid!' it repeated, then added, with a horrible snap and twist of its deformed head. "So, little male... who is afraid of the big bad wolf?" The fox let out a booming laugh and Torka whined.

But then he perked his ears, raised his tail and leapt up a boulder closer to the fox. "NOT me." He said defiantly, his hackles bristed. He was frowning, his teeth clenched. "I am not afraid of the big bad wolf, nor the small pathetic fox." He growled, though a pit formed in his stomach when the fox's smile vanished and was replaced by a snarl."Pathetic. Fox. How dare you?! I should tear that scrawny hide from your bones right this minute." The fox's head cocked to the side, as if listening to a whisper. "Alas, I cannot. If we meet again, little male, I will murder you slowly; you will cry for the mother you lack and the father you wish you had. You will moan and groan as I leave you for the vultures to slowly devour while alive, never again will you call a demon pathetic." He vowed, and Torka gulped as the fox dissapeared.

His hackles stayed raised, and he decided that moving a little closer to the alphas position would be better. He sat atop a grassy hill some 40 metres away, head on his paws. He wished he wasn't on an assignment, and he wished he was smaller; he could cuddle under Toko's fur and hide from the nightmare that was reality.

"Sometimes," He told the Sun, though it was nowhere to be seen. "Sometimes, I wish you had never let Death trick you." He felt a chill of wind bite at his tail, and folded it in. "And sometimes," He mumbled. "I wish Death would die his own painful death and leave us all alone." And with that, he shut his eyes and fell into a light sleep; He would wake up if anyone came near.

[ Sorry about that dramatic post ^^; I got bored. ]

A sigh escaped into the air, sad and exausted. The tall grass parted for a black she-wolf. Both eyes closed, the female seemed at ease for a few seconds, even when the world was not. The Sawtooth pack member opened her eyes, staring into the sky. A mix between blue and green, the piercing, clever eyes were a different color. Cyan. Soft footsteps on the grass alerted no one of the female's presence. The ghosts of the birds watched her, eyes melencholy. The world was quiet, and darkness was upon the earth like a snake, unrelenting and suffacating. The female scented the air, but her effort was futile. The only thing she would be eating tonight would be fish. Again. Fern sighed yet again, and looked toward the blanket of darkness.

The stars seemed dimmer, but who could blame them? Their relative and our Lord Sun was gone. The strategist sat in the grass and viewed the pack with worry. And now Chee is a half-blood... how many more must be tinted by this? Fern looked back at where Torka's ceremony took place. At least there is some joy in the world... The cyan-eyed wolf went over to her leader, Ayet, and sat down respectively. "Ayet," she said gently, "I think Chee should stay. She may be half demon, but that doesn't mean that we forget all that we've been through together. I just want you to think clearly about your decision first." The black she-wolf sighed and waited for the verdict.
