Ashblaze met her leaders gaze as he spoke to her. She nodded, standing up and walked over to Birchstar and Birchgaze, "Where are we intending to check out?" She asked, curious as to what their plan was.

Birchgaze dipped his head to Ashblaze with a flick of his tail. "We can patrol the border, just as a normal check up." He turned his head to Birchstar. "Should we bring Molapaw with us? It would probably be good for the apprentice to get training regarding borders."

"Nightfeather do what?" the black medicine cat asks as she hears her name.

Birchstar nodded. "That's a good idea." He turned towards Nightfeather. "Ah, if you could check in on Coalface, please? I don't know why she isn't up yet, but I hope that nothing's wrong with her. Maybe a little rest is all she needs."

Burntstripe had been a little cloud of darkness for several moons since Riversplash's death. He had shunned the other warriors and now slept in the nursery with Violetkit. Age wise, she should have been an apprentice by now, but neither felt fully ready to let the other go.

Burntstripe had mentally prepared himself for this day. Today he was going to give Birchstar his approval for Violetkit to become an apprentice. Mouning could only hold them back for so long. He had to be the responsible one so they could get on with their lives. Riversplash was never coming back, and though he would always miss her, life must continue.

Leaving the nursery, he found that Birchstar was already in the clearing talking with others. "Birchstar?" He asked hesitantly. "Can I talk with you?"

Birchstar turned to Burntstripe. He was mildly surprised to see the warrior out and about, but was also pleased. Perhaps they could move on, slowly but surely. He stepped aside to talk to Burntstripe privately. "Is this about Violetkit?" he asked. It was probably about her, whether everything was fine...or not. Hopefully the kit was doing well.

"I'll go fetch them then." Birchgaze made his way from the group, and headed to the apprentices den. Peeking his head inside, the damp air of the apprentice's den made him sneeze. At first, he figured he couldn't see the apprentice in the dark, but as his dark eyes adjusted he found the apprentice was gone. He knew he hadn't seen them earlier, and a blanket of anxiety passed through him.

Moving out of the den, he quickly made his way over to Birchstar. Acting as calm as possible, he waited for his brother to finish his conversation, as to not interupt. His tail twitched anxiously, hoping that Birchstar would have an explanation for why the apprentice was gone...an easier explanation than what Birchgaze was thinking right now.

Burntstripe took a deep breath. "Yes it's about Violetkit. She's almost eight moons now, and I think it's time she finally becomes an apprentice." He had been practicing exactly what to say mentally for days now, and could only hope he sounded like a responsible parent.

Birchstar nodded, frowning internally. He had almost forgotten how old Violetkit was. "Yes, it certainly is. We should perform the ceremony right now and..." He thought quickly. Maybe Minnowheart or Ashblaze? Hmmm, Ashblaze had proved herself to be more reliable recently. He then noticed Birchgaze standing and watching them, tail twitching.

"Birchgaze? What's wrong?"

"Molapaw isn't in his nest." The Tom mumbled, trying to think of any explanation. "Did they go out to train already..? Or..?"
