Murderers in Riverclan V.2 [Roster Update 10/30]

Violetkit was confused the moment everyone followed after her, sents quickly jumbled together to the point where she lost Riversplashs. Running as quickly as her smaller legs could go Violetkit finally left them behind, not stopping until she was panting harshly.

Slowly making her way back Violetkit realized the only reason she had lost them was because something else caused them to pause.. the sight of her mother and sound that left Burntstripe was something she would soon not forget.

Padding forward in a daze the young she-cat curled into the cool pelt of her mother, Burntstripes words fading into the back of her mind as the first wave of grief hit.

Stonesong turned away, trying to hide her tears. She didn't want the clan to know how bad she was at being a medicine cat and being around wounds, and she knew Riversplash couldn't be dead. She had been healthy the day before. She was smart, and somebody would have had to kill her. She blinked and turned back towards everyone else. Hoping she would look calm, she said, "Can you tell what happened?"

"what's going on?"

coalface broke through the crowd of cats, dropping the trout she'd killed during her hunting patrol. her yellow eyes narrowed, and she looked down at the cats around her, tail flicking and whiskers trembling faintly. "what is the meaning of all this chaos?"

[i think the killer is molapaw.]

Burntstripe turned wildly between the onlookers, prepared to strike. He searched for guilt, but found only grief and horror. The burst of anger evaporated as quickly as it had arrived, and Burntstripe felt he no longer had enough strength to even stand. He collapsed to the ground once more, downcast and brocken. Stonesong spoke up out of the crowd and he gazed up at the medicine cat bitterly. "What happened is that Riversplash is dead. She's dead and I wasn't there for her. She's dead and I thought she was safe. She's dead because someone killed her." His voice was hoarse, bitter and angry. Next Coalface showed up asking questions, and he rolled his head around to meet her eyes. "Riversplash is dead, we're all traumatized and there is no more meaning in this world." If Burntstripe wasn't so deadly serious his melodrama would be laughable, but he was.

With nothing more to say, Burntstripe turned his back on the crowd... where he spotted Violetkit. He hadn't thought he had anymore tears to shed, but he was wrong. The sight of his daughter curled up with her mother shattered his already broken heart. Though the world was blurred by his tears, he sat down next to Violetkit and nuzzled her. He needed the reassurance of warmth from her pelt that she too hadn't left him.

The tom turned to Coalface, hurt apparent in his eyes. "S-Someone killed Riversplash.." He tried to keep himself calm, but he felt his breathing grow ragged. Why would anyone do this to someone who didn't deserve it? His sister-in-law had been killed.. for nothing. He felt more tears stream down his cheeks.

Birchstar had been a little late to the scene, and shouldered his way through the crowd. "All right, quiet!" he shouted. "What happened?" He heard Burntstripe say that Riversplash was dead--no, killed, and he growled. Who dared hurt his clanmates?

"Let's get Riversplash back home," he said quieter. "And Stonesong, can you find something to help Burntstripe calm down?" It broke Birchstar's heart to see his clanmates so heartbroken. Why did this tragedy happen?

Burntstripe growled at Birchstar. "Come near me and I'll bite your head off." He threatened under his breath to anyone who might even try and make him feel better. Right now he needed to wallow. Though after a bit of a fight, he did let the others take Riversplash's body, but he picked Violetkit up by the scruff of the neck and wouldn't let anyone else near her.

Birchgaze had calmed down and was heading back to camp, behind his brother. He didn't dare get any closer to him, knowing that he didn't wish to be comforted. It hurt to see everyone in his clan hurting, and it felt strange knowing that someone amongst them had done the unthinkable. As soon as he made it into camp, he slumped to the ground, and curled in his nest.

Stonesong nodded at her leader. "Burntstripe, come with me to the medicine den. Some poppy seeds will help you and Violetkit calm down, and you can help me find the herbs to get Riversplash ready to be buried." Feeling slightly nauseous, she looked at Birchstar. "We should see if whoever killed her left any footprints or fur," then, thinking quickly, she attempted to calm everyone who was listening down by saying, "We're so close to the water, a dog or fox could have done it and it's scent was washed away."

Birchstar nodded with thanks. "That's true," he said. "Can...Coalface and Horseface stay back to search for clues? The rest of you can head back to camp if you wish."
