Lynxbound crossed a trickling stream, his tail erect. He paused to drink, then leapt over the last foot of water. He sniffed again, pinpointing the quail he had been stalking. Finally he set eyes upon the creature, delicately picking at the undergrowth. Lynxbound lowered himself slowly to the ground, his movements silent but powerful. He inched closer, keeping his pale eyes locked on the bird. Then he sprang, letting out a little snarl in the process. He clasped his claws around the bird's body, knocking it and himself to the ground. He struggled a bit, for the quail was certainly large and its flailing talons could do much damage. Lynxbound finally was able to clamp his jaws around the quail's neck, and therefore suffocate it. He held on for a few minutes, making sure the creature was dead. Lynxbound let the quail drop, feeling a prick of pride at his large kill.
He decided to return to camp and see if Violetpaw was awake, so he grabbed the bird and began to drag it towards the buried mouse. Lynxbound pushed through the brambles, spitting out feathers as he let go of the quail. He unearthed the mouse, and awkwardly grabbed both rodent and bird. The tom began to pull his catch back to camp.
Lynxbound padded through the gorge, reaching the camp area. His mouth ached from holding the heavy prey, but he carefully made his way to the fresh-kill pile. Lynxbound dropped the mouse and quail and let out a sigh of relief. He licked his lips and spat out a few feathers. He notice Violetpaw emerging from her den, and set over to her.
