Pearlscar nodded and went back to working. He knows its been moons, seasons, since Jaykindle died, and even more, Pearlscar can see him in StarClan. He doesn't understand why he can't get over the depression of losing someone.

He continued to work, falling silent. Occasionally he would ask a quick question and then move on. He again thought about what might be going through Pearlscars head. He didn’t know anything about his mentors past, but he figured it must not be very good. He felt bad and hoped that someday the older cat would feel comfortable enough to confide in one of his clanmates.

Once to the med den she looked inside before stepping in. “Hello, my stomach is a little upset after the mouse I ate last night, would you happen to have anything for that?” She asked, slightly embarrassed and avoiding eye contact with the two other cats. She thought it was ridiculous to bother them with a simple stomachache, but she had no other choice. Her paws shuffled on the ground slightly.

"Eaglestar can't pick us because it would look like he's favoring us over other kits," Patchkit meowed. "Kin usually don't mentor kin not only because of the chance of favoritism but the mentor might not be as strict with the apprentice as needed or be too strict with them."

She looked at them "hmm? so who do you want to become your mentor then? If I can ask" she meowed to them. Her ears flicked toward the conversation between the Satrlingsong's kits "I am afraid that kin has sometimes mentored a kin, parents can't mentor their kits, but further kin can...and now when you think about it there are not many warriors left to mentor, who are not related to you somehow" she meowed to them.

He gave a look around the clearing once again, but this time he didn't sit down to wait for anyone, instead, he left the camp. He decided to do some solo hunts and maybe check some of the borders all by himself.

She mewed then began making her way over to the two queens who had gone to the fresh kill pile. "Hello you two, me and Silverleaf are going to go get some sun and stretch out legs outside of camp. MoonShadow flicked her ear, hearing the cats around her begin to stir and awaken. She groaned softly to herself, trying to put off getting up. It wasn't that she wasn't in the mood to do anything today. She was just having a lovely dream about her parents - well her mother more specifically. MoonShadow half opened her blue eyes and glanced around, almost surprised to not see her mother standing at the foot of her nest. But that would never be possible - she wasn't here anymore. Fighting back her urge to crawl back into her nest and dream of her mother once again she finally, fully opened her eyes. Accepting the fact that she was officially awake.

The sleek white and grey cat slowly rose to her paws, giving her fur a quick clean before quickly walking out of the den. She noticed a few clan-mates were still asleep. To her surprise her brother was already awake and out of the den. As she walked towards the middle of the camp, the sun warmed her fur. MoonShadow looked to see if by chance any patrols were needing an additional cat on them. Most seemed to already be grouped together however you never knew. She chose to stand close enough to the groups for consideration however far enough to not eavesdrop. Worse case she could and would drag her brother out on a patrol together for the first time in moons. Maybe they could finally talk?

He groaned, the stirs of the fellow warriors as the morning sun spilled into the den. This was the worst part of his day, the waking up. His sister was always the morning cat - NightFrost on the other hand absolutely despised mornings. He rose to his paws with a huff and shook out his pelt from the traces of his sleep left by the leaves of his nest. Hesitantly he walked out of the den, his black coat glistened with the rays of sun. His eyes settled on his sister for a moment before he walked towards the prey-pile with the intentions of grabbing a bird. He considered asking about patrols for the day but decided to wait a moment since everyone was beginning their days - besides. Some patrols had already been going for the day and noticeably he had not been invited - typical but not an issue for him to dwell on. If it was hunting he normally didn't go - if it was borders and a potential fight then he was more in favor. Finally selecting a small bird, he picked it up in his jaws and padded towards a more quiet part of camp - still visible but our of the way.

"I think they try not to let kin mentor kin not just because of playing favorites but so apprentices can learn things that their kin may not be able to teach them, like if a warrior was really good at fishing and the apprentice's kin wasn't. And if there is no other warrior available that isn't kin then you're going to be mentored by kin."
