"until the end of time." he whispered after her. a sudden overwhelming surrounded his heart and he felt like bursting into tears right then and there. but, he didn't. he remained strong for hollytail and for the future that laid before them. sandclaw couldn't wait to see what laid ahead and was even more eager than when he first discovered his true feelings toward her, long ago. this was the beginning, but also the end. the end of his suffering, having to deal with his pain when they couldn't be together, but also the beginning of endless possibilities. he couldn't wait to see what those were.

as beetlenose came up with an excuse as to why he got it incorrect, he smiled in appreciation. he knew that she didn't actually think of him as intelligent, but at least she didn't say it out loud. instead, she did the opposite. she kept quiet whenever he made a mistake. they both knew very well that he had much to learn and he was going to make a few mistakes along the way, and that is why fadedecho wasn't too hard on himself when that did happen. "makes sense." he nodded in his agreement. "it helps sick cats with greencough or whitecough. come on, i knew that when i was a kit!" he joked. it was obvious she was going easy on him, and he couldn't help but laugh. "give me a challenge, please."
