" well, what do we do about my paw now, cause it hurts like the Dark Forest," he asked, wincing.

"Ya well suck it up kitty pet!" She snapped ferociously. Then she froze, and with concern and fear in her quavering mew, she said,"H-how d-did you know about the, D-Dark Forest?" She said, fear edging her mew.

"My dad told me horror stories about it when I was younger so I would behave. And I'll have you know I'm not stuck up and you just wrenched my paw to the front," he asked, wondering why it was bad to say his paw hurt.

She rolled her eyes,"I didn't call you stuck up! I said,'SUCKIT UP!' you're a warrior, I've don't that to kits and they don't get hurt! And I've finished with your paw, that was the point." Mothflight handed h some herbs. "Put these on every day for a moon and keep your paw in that splint for a moon. You will have to rest too, so unless you want to be a kittypet, I suggest you find someone to hunt for you." She said.

"Fine, I hate herbs. They usually taste bad or smell bad, or both. How do you put up with it, and all the whiny kitty pets?" he said, a small smirk on his face. " I think the vine needs to be tighter. I can easily slide my paw out," he said.

She tightened the vines. "There, do you need anything else?"

" Oh nothing, just a nice nap with you beside me," he said, yawning, and wincing when she tighten rat the vines

She sighed,"Shadowfur, you know I can't stay. I've told you. See you when you next need my help. Good bye Shadowfur," she said, avoiding his gaze and lowering her gaze so he wouldnt notice the sad, lonely tears in her eyes. She padded away quickly. When she was in the bushes she lowered her head, laid her ears back and dropped her tail in utter sadness.
Whatever happened to us?' she though, 'When did we fall apart like this?'

Shadowfur was startled when Mothflight left so soon. Was she hiding something from him? He understood that she was the medicine cat, but couldn't she take some time and visit with her mate?
