The tom felt his fur rise as Beepaw approached, and he could feel the anger rolling off her in waves, he could almost smell it. With wide eyes the tom took one large step back from his old friend. While he did want to reconnect with an old friend, he felt a rather strong need to keep the young Beepaw safe. Though he was friends with Voltaire, he felt one emotion with Beepaw that was even stronger that with Maria. With ears flat on his head, the long-haired tom nosed the cream apprentices neck, attempting to calm her down. He gave the she-cat a half smile, and whispered," Can we talk in privet?" He stayed still for a few moments, before turning to Voltaire the half smile on his face fading into a blank stoic look.
"Voltaire, maybe we should talk later after you talk with Beepaw's leader." His voice was a bit deeper than before, and held a cold tone to it. He inwardly sighed, he hated to admit it but if Voltaire had never left, and never met Maria, then Voltaire most likely would have ended up his mate. He didn't know what Beepaw felt for him, but he was sure she was jealous now, when she learned that particular fact, he was sure that would get much worse.
