Dawnpaw laughed a bit. "If you can. Needlefang is better than me, and could fit the whole forest's cobwebs on a single twig, but I have to use multiple sticks, because the cobwebs will begin to fly around." She smiled at Applefrost's messy stick, and the cobwebs that floated this way and that. She did good, though. Especially for a first time.

Needlefang nodded, glad to hear that she was agreed with instead of someone trying to appease her by falsely doing so. “Thank you for listening to me. I’d also like to dig a hidden tunnel out of camp, an escape route incase something were to happen to cause immediate danger. I have a bad feeling that something is about to happen, something that’ll make it unsafe for dogs like us.” She said with her ears back.

"Well... I'll try to wrap one more cobweb around the stick," she replied. Applefrost started glancing around again and frowned when she couldn't immediately spot more webs. "Is it usually this hard to find some?" she asked. The kangal hadn't realized how hard the life of a medicine dog could be.

Dawnpaw thought for a second before answering. "Well, I guess it depends on the weather and time of day. New-leaf mornings are the best times, because the cobwebs glitter with dew, and are easy to spot. Nighttime in Greenleaf is the hardest, especially during drought, or, that's what Needlefang told me. And, of course, Leaf-bare you have no chance." Dawnpaw looked around, and was confirmed that there were no more cobwebs in the area. "Do you want to head back? We've gathered quite a bit of cobwebs, and I think I could catch a bite of squirrel." She stopped talking, and looked at her paws, though she still smiled. Dawnpaw rarely, rarely was ever this social.

"Escape route?" Rive asked, distracted from her previous thoughts by Needlefang's safety concerns.
She craned her neck to peer over the top of the hole, raising a forepaw so as to squeeze out all the extra scraps of height she could. It seemed like quite a lot of digging, and Rive felt the need to point it out, despite being overall willing to assist with the task.
"Are you sure? It's very far..."
Then, something occurred to her.
"Wait, a bad feeling? Needlefang, did you have a vision?"
Rive lowered her voice as she inquired. She had picked up on Needlefang's cryptic language and wondered if this business was something that should be kept a secret. Still, this talk of "something bad" happening, being "unsafe", and the specific reference for "dogs like us". Perhaps that would explain some of Needlefang's bitterness. Had she received a message from StarPack that warned of danger, especially to smaller dogs?

She nodded along to what Dawnpaw was saying and listened intently. "That's certainly helpful for future use," Applefrost replied with a smile and a short wag of her tail. She watched as Dawnpaw glanced around and dipped her head in response to her question, unsure of how to verbally reply. When the medicine dog apprentice suddenly glanced down at her paws and stopped talking, Applefrost piped up, "Hey, it's okay. Squirrel sounds good to me, too. I could use something to eat." She even awkwardly nudged the younger dog and bashfully grinned again.

Nari releases her lock as soon as she felt the deer stop moving, licking the blood from he canines she looked to Fawnfoot. "Nice job!" Her tail wagged. "Bad part is now we have to take it back and not ruin it." She chuckled carefully getting on end of the deer and waiting for him.

Dawnpaw smiled at Applefrost's kind, though awkward, gesture, and walked back to camp. Most dogs were up and about already, talking, putting patrols together, establishing tasks, getting breakfast and such. Dawnpaw moved slowly and carefully, watching the threads of cobweb drift lazily behind her. She didn't want to lose any of her hard-earned cobweb.

As they walked into camp, she noticed that other dogs were busy and speaking with each other. Applefrost padded slowly behind the medicine dog apprentice, trying to move in the same way that she was and keeping careful. She was hit with the realization that if Dawnpaw didn't need any more help then she would most likely be alone for the rest of the day. A part of it made Applefrost sad, although she didn't speak to many dogs in general and didn't know anyone well. Yet everyone else in Shadowpack seemed to be interacting with each other and having fun.
