Dragging her creaking bones out of the elder's den, Rabbitjaw squinted in the bright sun. The camp was quiet, too quiet for her liking. Where were the squealing kittens? Where were the gossiping apprentices? Where was the high and mighty leader and their deputy? Where was everyone? Despite her love of being solo in life, Rabbitjaw disliked the thought of being lonely. It just wasn't natural for a clan.

Until Rabbitjaw finally heard some noise, a quiet murmur but still enough to relieve the elder. She thought the murderer and gone and slain the whole of Riverclan while she slept in her nest. ''D-dank...'' she gasped, turning to Stormriver, only for her jaws to fall open, not because they were mangled but because she was shocked. Sorrelwish, the sweet queen was killed, Sorrelwish the innocent. Sorrelwish the expecting. ''W-why?'' Rabbitjaw mumbled, looking up at Stormriver, searching for comfort in the stoic warrior. ''S-she dead?''

Minnowpaw yawned and was too tired to notice the commotion. He got up, stretching, hoping to bring prey to Sorrelwish. He peeked his head in the nursery, carrying a fish in his jaws. "Sorrelwish?" The tom meowed, surprised. Minnowpaw was now wide awake, and he meowed again, "Where's Sorrelwish?" He cried. Minnowpaw glanced around, and saw Stormriver's shape huddled at the edge of the river. Minnowpaw padded over carefully, and saw Sorrelwish's lifeless body in a pool of blood. "Sorrelwish!" He cried.
