Pigeonfeather woke up to the chattering coming from outside the den. The low sun outside stung his eyes as he looked. It's so low.. why are they up to early? He didn't know exactly who they were, but that wasn't the top of his concerns. All he was concerned about was why they were up. "What in the name of Starclan are you doing up so early?" he semi-complained to the cats talking.

Robinfeather limped next to Batfang, feeling even more worried with each step. The two tom's scents were very weak, and Robin felt that something was very off.
"They must've left camp around moonhigh." Mumbled Robin, glancing around with a sigh. "I hope they're alright.."

The white she-cat narrowed her eyes before shrugging. She was used to saying annoying remarks, and getting annoyed responses. It didn't matter to her, she was determined and loyal to her clan, and that was enough. "I'm right here," she called out, before following the small group along. Personally, she felt like the two were overreacting, but she guessed it wouldn't do any harm to go look for the two toms.

As the group followed the scent of the two Toms, they reached the falls. The scent ended there, but another scent drifted their way.
"Is that...blood?" Robinfeather looked around, eyes wide with fear. Were they hurt? He then saw the glistening pool near the edge. A pool of blood. His legs almost gave out. Were his friends, dead? He felt sick, hoping, praying to Starclan that it wasn't what it seemed. "Maybe- Maybe it's a prank? Right?" He took a few steps back, which was hard with his limp, and sat down. He needed to look away.

"Blood? What shenanigans are you-" and that was when a strong whiff of blood scent came and hit her square in the face. She saw it too. A pool of blood. Doubt started to stirr in her chest. What if they were right, what if Hemlocktail and Flinteyes were in trouble? "Hey, don't jump to conclusions! That could be anyone's blood," she said, furrowing her eyebrows. But even she was expecting the worst.

The search party brought back the dead bodies of their Clanmates. The air in the camp is heavy, shocked, and fearful. There's a murderer in the ranks of the Clan.
"Clanmates," Snowstar says in her serious tone, as is per her personality. "I know all of you are shocked and horrified by this kill, and I'm asking you all to make a decision that I myself wouldn't want to make. There is a murderer among us and we need to find out who they are."
The cats start talking, all theorizing different cats, and there are a few who yowl out names. "It was Honeystorm!"
"No, it was Stormriver!"
"Quiet!" Snowstar roars, silencing her Clan. "I didn't ask for chaos," she hisses. "We need to root out the killer before it's us next."
The cats are silent before an apprentice, Blizzardpaw, speaks up. "I think it was Snowstar."
The leader watches, shocked, as one by one, cats agree with the young apprentice. "What?" she hisses. "Mouse-brains! How could it be me!?"
Batfang turns to her reluctantly. "I'm sorry, Snowstar, but you did say we had to exile someone," he sighs, voice full of regret.
The white she-cat's tail flicks back and forth angrily. "Fine. But when you're all dead, don't come crawling to me," she spits before storming out of camp.
It was later heard that ThunderClan took in the exiled leader, after hearing her story. Peace returned to RiverClan as everyone thought they'd exiled the right cat.

With Batfang - soon to be Batstar - off to the Moonstone to receive his nine lives, the Clan is settling down to sleep. Robinfeather volunteered for guard duty, so he's sitting at the entrance to the camp, fully alert. His ears twitch at the slightest sound, and even with Snowstar gone, he wants to do the best he can. Batfang confided to him privately that he would make him deputy when he got back, and Robinfeather wants to prove he can be a great deputy.
"Rather quiet tonight," a voice says behind him.
Even though he shouldn't have, Robinfeather jumps and whirls to face the cat, fur bristling, before he sees who it is. "Oh," he sighs. "It's just you."
The cat purrs in amusement. "Didn't mean to scare you," they say. "Would you like to go for a walk?"
Robinfeather hesitates. "I shouldn't," he says.
"Oh, we won't be that long," the cat meows, running their tail along his spine. "Besides, the killer is gone, right?"
That seems to comfort him. "Yeah, I guess you're right," he decides. "Okay, let's go."
The two walk from camp in relative silence. "How is Blizzardpaw?" the cat asks.
Robinfeather purrs fondly. "She's doing fine. I think she might become a warrior pretty soon," he says.
"I bet she'd make a great warrior."
They stop by the river and sit. "I haven't been able to see this place the same since the flood," the killer says quietly.
"Because of Leafheart?" Robinfeather says sympathetically.
The killer stiffens a little and nods. "Yes."
"I'm really sorry about that."
"And yet you did nothing to help me," the killer hisses, unsheathing their claws. Their pelt glows silver in the moonlight. "No one did. I could've saved him. I could've saved both of us! And when I nearly got him out, someone just pulled me from the river and left him for dead!" On the last word, the killer swipes at Robinfeather, who barely ducks in time. A second swipe closely follows the first, aimed at his eyes, and that one hits, blinding the poor tom. "Say hello to Hemlocktail and Flinteyes for me," the killer hisses before shoving him into the river.
Robinfeather, blinded and therefore unable to really find the surface, only manages to get a few breaths before the killer pounces on him to assure that he's dead. The deed done, the killer swims out of the river and dries off before heading back to camp.

Another cat has died! Be careful, RiverClan!
With Robinfeather gone, Batstar appoints Honeystorm as deputy.

'Why him...'

Batstar had been on the way back from the moonstone when he had seen the body and a numb feeling took over. Now back at camp, curled up next to the still damp body of Robinfeather, he felt regret.
As he was given his nine lives his mother had given him advice, something that he would follow.. that he should accept himself and ask the beautiful tom.
But now it was to late and that thought caused a deep rage to boil. Even though Batstar was one that usually chose discussion before action he was ready to punish whom ever was responsible.
