"Snakes?" squeaked Minnow "That's so–"
"Awesome!!" her brother cut her off. "Mom, can I have a pet snake?" Blizzard asked.
Batstar purred with amusement. "Venompaw, why don't you show the kits the apprentices' den? Just don't wake Honeypaw! I need her to go hunting later."
Batstar turned to Shale. "I'd like a word with you in my den."
Shale nodded. "Of course."

[ki-neko animura]

"of course. Come on you three." Venompaw mewed padding towards the den. "Here is where our apprentices sleep. We need to be quiet so we don't wake Honeypaw." They looked around then padded into a clearing. Where Venompaw sat down and mewed. "Do you guys have any questions?"

[Solarizing]

Blizzard turned to Honeypaw, "Why doesn't that creepy cat have any eyes?"
Minnow sighed. "That's cause they're closed, moss-brain."
"Uhh.... I knew that," squeaked Blizzard.

Phantom had a real question. "Is this where we sleep?"

[ki-neko animura]

" Only if you guys decide if you will be clan cats or rogues." Venompaw mewed. "plus when you become apprentices for now you will sleep with your mother in the nursery. Living here isn't so bad. Though you do miss a little bit of freedom of being a rogue. But you gain so many friends, clanmates, and more."

[Solarizing]

Shale padded in. "I apologize for interrupting, Venompaw, but I must speak with my kits."
Phantom, Blizzard, and Minnow huddled around her.
Shale took a long breath before saying, "My kits. I will not make any final choice without you, as this will affect your life,"
My life! thought Minnow
"I will let it be your choice." she continued.
Minnow felt her fur bristle. Our choice! But we're not even two moons! A week before we couldn't even talk!
"I don't know..." Phantom mewed and Minnow guessed he was remembering his terrible first experience with BrackenClan. "I guess OasisClan's fine..."
"I want to join OasisClan!" squeaked Blizzard. "They're really nice and have tons of prey, it'll be fun!"
Shale softly nodded before turning to Minnow. "And you, dear?"
Minnow felt her throat go dry. I want to stay rogue! But she knew as much as she wanted it, it could never happen. Leaf-bare was coming, and there wouldn't be enough food to support their family. But in OasisClan everything was warm and tropical.... it was almost too good to be true.

Summoning a deep breath, she mewled, "I will join OasisClan."

Venompaw overheard them and felt a surge of joy and pain. She knew how her sister felt about Minnow and felt bad. But Oasisclan needed more warriors and these kits are wonderful. "Are you guys positive? You don't have to choose now. You can wait a couple days to see how you like it. You can weigh your options. I can help you I used to be rogue myself. I am not clanborn." Venompaw mewed sweetly hoping they would wait to make their decisions.

[Solarizing]

"No... we're ready." replied Shale. "Kits, go tell Batstar."

"Okay!" the squeaked dashing away.

When they were out of earshot Shale replied to Venompaw. "I can't. I believe this Clan is the best for us, I understand what you are saying, but I fear provoking BrackenClan. We both know Coyotefang and Batstar will get into another fight over them – and this time may be more bloody. Also, I can't go back to being a rogue either. Their father abandoned us when I was expecting. This is my first leaf-bare with them, and I can no longer provide for them..." she mewed sadly.

"Ok. Don't worry we will help them grow strong. The whole clan will help." Venompaw mewed flicking her paw across Shale since she cant do it with her tail. "I have two questions for you. If you will hear me out." Venompaw mewed shyly.

[Solarizing]

"Of course." she mewed. "I'd love to hear them. I don't expect Batstar to call us soon – I'd bet my tail the kits are playing hide-and-seek in the caves!" she added with a purr.

"yeah i know i would. Ok so here is my first question. Did you ever meet my mother? Taylor? She was a rogue as well but after she lost Swiftpaw she started to get depressed. Then the snake got me and she left me here with Oasisclan. After that i haven't heard from her." Venompaw mewed with sad hopeful eyes.
