Eveningleaf | Stoneclan Medicine Cat
The shecat nodded, inhaling slightly. She always anticipated meeting with starclan. Sometimes, her mother Honeytail or her father Foxstorm would visit. Once, her sister, Morningfern, who had gone missing while they were apprentices, visited her. Eveningleaf was upset when she found her sister had died, but Morningfern had assured her that she had lived a good life, and only wished she had lived longer to spend time with her kits. Eveningleaf briefly wondered if Morningfern's kits were still alive, but then shook it off. She would probably be able to ask Morningfern herself, if her sister decided to appear tonight. Bracing herself, Eveningleaf pressed her nose to the stone, her head then going limp as she fell in a slumber....
--
Eveningleaf blinked open her amber eyes, glancing around the clearing. She couldn't catch the scents of Morningfern, Honeytail, or Foxstorm, but did recognize a new scent, one she hadn't smelled for 7 moons. Since her mentor died. Eveningleaf pricked her ears, her eyes glittering. "Bluesong?" the torbie mewed out, searching for her mentor. When the familiar blue fur appeared in view, Eveningleaf ran to her mentor, purring loudly. "Bluesong, I've missed you so much! I haven't seen you since... the greencough epidemic." Bluesong had died in her sleep, fighting off a vicious bout of greencough. The blue-furred shecat purred. "I know, but you have been doing wonderfully. I am so sorry about Echopaw.. but Hawkpaw is a promising young cat. He will do well." Eveningleaf nodded, comforted by her mentor. "Are you enjoying starclan?" Eveningleaf mewed, curious. Bluesong nodded. "The hunting is always good here. Herbs are abundent. There are so many herbs, Eveningleaf. More than you could ever imagine..."
The two shecats spent time talking, catching up with each other. Eveningleaf had missed her mentor terribly, and now she finally got a chance to speak with her again. However, soon their time together was coming to a close. The moon was moving, and soon the living stoneclan medicine cat would have to wake. Eveningleaf flattened her ears. "I wish you could come back to Stoneclan with me. Things are so strange. Cats keep disappearing, there was a fox attack in Cloverclan, two entire clans left the valley and a new one took their place. Our deputies keep dying. Bluesong, why did you have to die, too? We need you!" Bluesong frowned. "It was my time, Eveningleaf. You know that." Her eyes darkened, and Bluesong tilted her ears. "The moon is setting; quickly, before you wake, remember this!" Bluesong's mew turned into a hiss of urgency as she started to fade. Eveningleaf could feel herself beginning to wake. "Even the most trusted warrior can wear down a mountain.." Eveningleaf strained her ears to make out the last words. 'Wait! Bluesong! You couldn't have told me this earlier when you had time to explain? What does that mean? What do you mean?!"
--
Eveningleaf threw her amber eyes open.
No! I need to talk to Bluesong! Was that a prophecy? Was it advice? Why did I have to wake? The shecat closed her eyes again, attempting to throw herself back into the dream. Of course, to Eveningleaf's frustration, it didn't work. The shecat lashed her tail in irritation, glancing around at the other medicine cats.
Even the most trusted warrior can wear down a mountain...
