Rainstar was sitting on the large rock that overlooked the Rainclan camp. It was raining, and as the rain fell, the heather Siamese who led the clan stared straight up at the sky, her face still, and her eyes unblinking. "Please Starclan" she whispered "Send me a sign, who shall be deputy of Rainclan?"
The previous Deputy, Applewood, had died just a few moments ago, the sickness that had claimed him, unknown. But this meant that Rainstar had a full day to decide who would become the new deputy. There weren't that many eligible warriors in the clan, and her options were; the quiet Shadowbreeze, the sweet but tempered Petalheart, the protective Stoneheart, the half-fox Foxpelt, and the peaceful Lilacbreeze.

Shadowclaw was on guard duty, and he stared at the entrance to the ring of trees that protected the camp. The thin tunnel in the gorse was small, but it was the only way in or out of the camp, what with trees and bushes ringed around it in all other directions. He felt at peace with the rain falling on him, it felt good, and relaxing, much unlike the hot sun that would most likely burn down on them sooner or later...Shadowclaw was holding out for later.

Cloudsong kept her tail wrapped around her two kits, who were sleeping peacefully, which was about the only thing they could do peacefully. Turning her head to look at the nest of the two kits that the entire clan had adopted, Sprucekit and Cherrykit, Cloudsong wondered how they were holding out.

Song of the Savannah stood just outside her cubs sleeping room. She had just gotten them to sleep by telling them a story of her home-lands, and was now going to take one last check to make sure their under-ground home was still hidden. It had taken her moons to fully re-shape her and her cubs new home from the old fox den, and she was not going to be chased out by anyone who thought they could sneak up on a mother caracal. Slowly, Savannah raised her head up to the opening, and peered outside, her large ears swiveling and her nose twitching as she searched for any signs of intruders.
