Threeleg opened his eyes. It was still early, but the tom was awake now, so he wouldn't be able to sleep again. He got up, shifting his body so he was sitting up, and groomed his chest fur. The cool air around him sent a sudden shiver down his spine, but when he limped out of the den, it was more refreshing than cold.


Juniperfrost looked across the den at Coyotefur. "Hi Coyotefur!" She greeted the tom. "Excited for the deputy and mentor ceremony tonight?" The fæ asked him with a smile.


Sparrowpaw growled as the mouse escaped his grasp. He gasped as it turned around and transformed into the biggest dog Sparrowpaw had ever seen. The apprentice sprinted through the woods until he broke into camp. His eyes flung open and he was in his nest. It had all been a dream. With a sigh of relief, the apprentice got to his paws and groomed his ruffled fur before padding outside to be greeted by a gentle breeze.


Aquilo picked his way carefully through the undergrowth, following a familiar scent trail. It was mouse. The scent lead him to a small hazel bush, where the small brown creature was digging. The loner crouched, eyeing his prey carefully before leaping. He caught the mouse firmly between his claws before settling beside the bush to eat it. Aquilo had been awake for some time, and his hunger had lead him to hunting. The mist had made it harder to catch a scent, but he'd managed a successful hunt.

The young tom opened his eyes to the dull light of the apprentice den. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the murky light and stuffy heat. He stumbled to his paws and stretched his limbs, wiggling his claws as relief washed over him. He licked his lips and glanced over at Deerpaw, but quickly snapped his gaze to outside the den.

Cinderwhisker watched as more and more cats woke from their peaceful slumber. She smiled and kept down the log she was perched on, before padding over to the pile of freshkill and plucking a skinny mouse for herself. The young warrior plucked some of the fur away before starting to eat her breakfast.

Blackpaw glanced over at his friend, "Yes yes, fine." he meowed, looking up and smiling weakly. The young tom flicked his tail and continued, "I was just thinking about a bit of early hunting, before any one else goes out, as they say, the early bird gets the worm." he tried to sound optimistic, but lacked the enthusiasm terribly. "I was going to wait for Deerpaw to wake up, so I could ask her to come with me, she's really good at hunting." he purred quietly.

Echowhisker nodded, and raced to the camp's entrance. He tripped once in the process, scraping his nose. He hissed, and licked a paw, rubbing it on his bleeding nose. He then sneezed, (more like squeaked.)
