Honeystar stepped out of her den, stretching. When she finished she lifted her head. The air was cool, but they were in the desert. It could warm up any second.

Desertclaw still slept soundly.

Her orbs opened slowly, her limbs stretching
in the cool mouth of the enclosed cave. She sat up to her haunches, her
cranium lowering to groom her mattered pelt. Feather flicked an ear, her
tail wrapped neatly around her paws.

He awoke from his bracken-filled nest, retracting
his claws in the dust. He flicked an ear, not minding the mess of his
pelt, but continuing to his beloved water-hole, bending his cranium down
to drink from the mineral-filled water.
