"Daddy, who's that guy?" Luke asked quietly, pointing to InkJR. "And I think he's dead..."

[Solanum]

Yara frowned at Luke. "He'll get through it, you'll see." He fought back the urge to cry out, to make his weakness known, but he refused. He wouldn't make himself look weak in front of his pup, that would only cause him to doubt. Nothing good would come out of that. So he struggled on. "This is Ink, Grandson of Dark, son of Ink. He is like a son to me..."

[Bolt1784]

"Um...But...He's not moving..." Luke slowly replied. He quickly poked InkJR, but he didn't respond. The poor pup was dead...And Merr had finished him off by kicking him.

[Solanum]

Yara shook his head, refusing to believe it. "He'll be back. He always is." But this time, he might not be there for Ink to return to... Tears formed in his eyes as pain surged through him, although it was for Ink as well, so that covered it up. "Luke. Go. Run to your mother, tell her that I love her. Okay?" He smiled at Luke, slowing down. "I'll be right behind you, don't worry about me."

"No..." Luke growled. "...You just want me to go because you don't want me to see you like this, even I know that..."

Yara looked at his paws, a tear falling down his face. "Luke... I'm dying. There is no other way to put it. I can feel my body shutting down, must have been the surgery..." He continued to avoid his son's eyes, not wanting to show just how far he was from death. "I'm not sure how long I have left, but I don't think I'll make it more than an hour or two... So I need you to bury Ink and to just tell the others that I love them. Merr will help, if he doesn't, kick him up the backside from me."

"No! What about Raven? I can tell you're good friends! And mummy- It would break her heart..." Luke growled. "...And mine...You're just gonna lie down and die in front of me?!"

[Solanum]

Yara blinked at Luke, sighing. "There isn't anything I can do to stop it. My body is shutting down, I have no control over it. So far I've been able to slow it, and press on, but I can't keep doing that forever. I know that I'd be missed, that is good enough for me, but I need you to promise to me... Make sure Chako knows, hell take her to my body if she doesn't believe you. I won't leave her without saying goodbye, not again..." He closed his eyes, letting his shoulders drop slightly. If only he had a choice, but he didn't. And there was no one to bring him back this time, he would stay there.

"You b******, Yara...You're giving up without a fight. I never thought you'd do that. Well, I guess I was wrong!" Luke snapped. He turned and stormed off, but suddenly fell to the ground with a loud yelp. He could feel metal teeth sinking in to his small front leg- It was a leghold trap. The pup pulled back to try to free himself, but this just made it worse. As he moved, a loud banging noise sounded from behind him. At first, he didn't feel anything. Then the pain ran through him like a knife of fire. A bullet was deep in his back and it had just missed his spine, but because he was so young it hurt so badly he started to cry. "DADDY!!"

Yara whined and ran after his son, leaping at the man. He was so angry that he ripped his head clean off his shoulder, spraying the area in blood. Several loud shots rang out, then silence fell. Yara still stood, his eyes blazing with fury, the man's head hanging from his jaws. His saliva was stained red with blood, as were both his back legs and his chest. He had been shot several times in the chest and once in his right back leg... Although his legs didn't matter as they were gone anyway, the wounds on his chest would be fatal. He had shortened his expected time left, but he had saved his son, more or less. "Luke... Please. Talk to me."
