Fishbowl couldn't help but blush at her excessive compliments, he'd never been spoken to so kindly in his life, besides maybe by his human, but somehow it meant a lot more coming from someone of his own kind. Even though he loved Anastasia dearly, it wasn't like he could take a human for a mate. And Hope was so lovely, like an elusive, beautiful butterfly, delicate but sweet. Her voice sent a shiver down his spine and made him smile almost immediately. "Wow," He murmured, then grinned and stomped his hooves loudly in approval, "That's amazing, Hope." He said truthfully, his eyes sparkling. He was so glad he hadn't read that paper when he found it lying on the ground, he knew letting her sing it to him first made it a lot more special to the both of them. He sighed contentedly as he asked, even more shyly than he had when asking her on a date, "Maybe sometime I could draw you a bit more properly? You know, not just sneaking glances and trying to hide it from you?" He winked at her, already so happy. "I could even ask Anastasia to get you a nice frame for it."
"Hmmm... Christmas." Coal said thoughtfully, gazing at the window, which was beginning to get a bit of frost on it. His mind was already formulating a plan to get her an amazing gift as soon as he remembered the upcoming holiday, but he wouldn't tell her that. He wanted it to be a surprise, and just grinned at her, kissing her softly. "All I need is you too, darling. Let's not read too much into it, we shouldn't let it ruin our merry Christmas spirit, right?" He winked at her a little teasingly and nuzzled her, reaching over to turn up the heater in the stall so it wouldn't get chilly, she was right, it was nice and warm and cozy, and he wanted it to stay that way for as long as possible.
Startled, Fireworks brushed himself off and stood back up again with a little murmur of annoyance, looking even more determined to find his father he marched to the door and sniffed it, but found no scent. "Mommy?" He looked at his mother, who again gingerly shrugged her shoulders and smiled sweetly at him. "I don't know where Daddy went, darling. You have to find him, remember?" Fireworks playfully rolled his eyes and then pounced feircely on the lump in the hay, tossing all of his meager weight onto it with a little yelp of attack.
Aurora shrieked with surprise as her sister tackled her, for a second, she didn't recognize her. As soon as she opened her eyes again and saw her attacker was only her twin, she yelped again. "Star!" She screamed, hugging her sister feircely, like she would never let go again. Tears rolled down her young face. "I thought you were gone forever! I didn't know what happened to you! Where's Mom?! Is everyone okay?" She couldn't stop from babbling on with joy.
Bronze was in his stall, he had rarely left it except for emergencies since his mate mysteriously left him. He didn't know where she had gone, but he was heartbroken -- he had never trusted or loved a mare like he had loved Moon, and then she was simply gone. He had spent weeks trying not to cry and looking at old pictures Anastasia had snapped of them when they weren't looking. Anastasia visited him often to make sure he was eating and treating himself properly, but his fur grew dull from not going outside and he kept the blinds closed so he wouldn't be reminded of the happy life he had once had by looking out the window. He quietly passed the days away reading and writing short memories down in a leather-bound journal he kept at his bedside, eating only what was neccesary to keep him a 'fit' size for a chub, waiting for the darkness to come and claim him.
