"Thanks." Fishbowl blushed as well as he slowly tucked away his drawing supplies and gave her a genuine smile. He took a deep breath and summoned every bit of courage hidden away in his chub-by self, and managed to blurt out, "Would you want to go out and do something sometime?" Then he realized what he had said was incredibly vague and felt like smacking his head on his hard-cover sketchbook. "I mean...," He blushed furiously as he corrected, "Would you like to go on a date with me sometime?" He closed his eyes, bracing himself for rejection. A lovely mare like her probably had dozens of suitors, and he was just an oddball with a sketching habit that had slunk up from the depths of the sea in the hopes of finding something more interesting than fish. But he forced himself to open his eyes and look at her, take one last look at her just in case she decided it would be a better worth of her time to run away from him than take him up on his offer. His heart thudded heavy and fast against his chest, threatening to break free and spill how much he really liked her. It was more than just a pretty face with her, it was those shy glances, that sweet, angelic voice and the way she was so unique in making her own songs, inspired just like he was, by the happenings around her. From that very first tune, he just wanted to seize her and demand she be his, and kiss her feircely. Like in the tales of old, when males would just do that, and it was all okay.
Coal was silent for a long moment, merely snuggling up beside her and hugging her as though to say 'everything's going to be okay'. His eyes were soft and thoughtful as he gazed at her, taking her in even though he'd seen her a thousand times before, he never got bored of her beauty. "Tell you what," He finally said, his tone light and a little teasing, like normal, "From here on out, I promise to only think about the what-ifs of the future, because those really COULD happen." He winked at her fiestily. "And just for your personal information, I don't think any mare ever could have charmed me the way you did. I probably would have grown to be a very old bachelor." He added with a warm chuckle, kissing her sweetly, like when they had first met. "And it doesn't matter what they said then or if they turned back on it now, everything's going to be okay because we have each other, so who needs them anyway?" He flicked his tail back and forth, rythmically swishing it back and forth over the golden strands of hay. "I can be a mate AND a friend." He added, winking again.
Hana grinned and nodded as she scooped up a bit of hay and gently patted it over the bare spots until her mate had disappeared beneath the hay, then she couldn't stop herself from giggling a little, which only made Fireworks wriggle more intently. "Just a minute, sweetie," Hana sang out gently, grinning at the sight of her silly, sweet mate. She loved how he played with their children, interacting with them so smoothly, like being a father was exactly what he was meant to do with his life, and he had known it from the very moment he opened his eyes. Before Fireworks opened his eyes, Hana leaned over and kissed Dot, brushing away the hay, then moving it back so no part of him could be seen, just a slight lump in the hay.
