SunClan's Story [New Thread]

"Right. Sorry!" Lightpaw apologized again, embarrassed. Getting out of the way of the entrance to avoid running into anyone else, she turned back to Appleleaf. "So. Herbs. I can do that." she said, smiling. "When do we leave?"

Eaglestar's ears dropped. "We...we lost many good cats." Too many. She closed her eyes, imagining her oldest friends and adopted family--Nightclaw and Miststep. Both gone. She opened her eyes, forcing herself to look the apprentice in the eye. "But others survived. We still have..." she stopped to think. "Raccoonstrike. You remember him? He saved me from an eagle today." she smiled slightly. "And Cloudstripe. No, that's not right, is it? He doesn't have any stripes, that makes no sense." she struggled to remember the right name. Normally she'd be embarrassed, but now she hoped her foolishness might cheer the poor apprentice up.

[Sable.]

"We'll eat first, then go if that's okay." Appleleaf watched the bouncy little apprentice. She seemed... familiar almost.But Appleleaf couldn't quite put her paw on it. "Come on." Appleleaf shuffled out of the den beside Mintsplash and headed for the almost empty fresh kill pile. She picked her self a plump mouse and gulped it down, noticing she hadn't eaten for quite some time.

MIntsplash smiles one last time at the kits, and pads out after Appleleaf and starts to wander around the camp, trying to recognize everything by scent. She eventually sighs, and plops down on a sun-warmed rock, because of the separated scents of FlameClan, RainClan, and StoneClan that were confusing her.

Lightpaw stared at the eagle, lying a little off to the side of the fresh-kill pile. How had she not noticed that before? She'd heard something about an eagle attack, but she hadn't expected them to bring the bird back for dinner. Looking away, she chose a small bird--not the one she'd caught; that one was bigger, she thought a little proudly. She sat down, eating quickly. She purred quietly as she ate--a habit of hers. She sneezed as a loose feather tickled her nose.

"Cloudstrike, you mean?" he mrrowed in a small laughter. Eaglestar hadn't changed with that at least. "Anyone else? My mother? My mentor?" he pressed, though the thought of them being gone ached his heart. He was going to miss all his Clanmates. "And what about StoneClan and RainClan?" He wondered about them too, though mostly about his own Clan.

[Sable.]

Finishing the last of her mouse, Appleleaf licked her lips and savored it for a moment. "Shall we go?" She asked Lightpaw as the little cat sneezed as a feather.

"Cloudstrike, that's it." She purred. Her smile faded at his next question. "I'm sorry, Loudpaw." That was the right name, wasn't it? She hoped so. She placed a paw gently on his shoulder. "I'm so sorry, but...they hunt with StarClan now." Her heart felt heavy. Everyone had lost someone in the fire. Some more than most. "StoneClan and RainClan...they lost cats, too. But those that survived are here, with us."

Lightpaw swallowed the last of her bird, licking her lips. "Sure," she replied with a smile. "I'm ready to go."

Pineclaw stalked out of the medicine cat's den. Stonekit had a queen to look after him now; the kit could do without him for a while. He looked up at the sun--it was sun-high. He'd been asleep nearly half the day, he thought, annoyed with himself. At least he felt rested. Maybe he'd go out hunting. Or just patrol the area. They had no borders to defend here, but someone had to make sure no foxes or rogues were getting too close to the camp.

"Let's go." Appleleaf lead Lightpaw into the grasses to see what they could find. There wasn't much here, but something was better than nothing.

Mintsplash pads up silently to Eaglestar, hearing the mention of RainClan. "But this is one whole new clan now, isn't it? We can grieve for our lost clanmates, but won't we have to start focusing toward the future now..I mean, we are SunClan warriors now, not FlameClan, RainClan, and StoneClan...right?" she mewed, her face expressionless, but her heart filled with guilt for trying to forget her deceased family.

The little orange cat fell silent. His heart ached with sadness and loss. He wanted his mother and his mentor. They ment the world to him, and now they were gone. Anger swelled inside him. What had he done to deserve this?! Why would StarClan do this to him?! He wished he had the strength to yowl in greif and anger at his ancestors.
