Stormcloud stayed inside his den all day. Rarely he would poke his head out, his gaze trailing to the apprentice's den. Poppypaw. The tom shook his head in silent grief. He had thought becoming a warrior would be a life-changing experience for him, but instead, the ceremony needed to take place when the clan was dangerously threatened. The gray tom had remembered his first patrol as a warrior. Near the end, Mossflight and Poppypaw had left him- he was alone. For a moment, he had thought the killer had gotten them, but then he thought.. what if they were the killer?

No. Stormcloud couldn't accuse his clanmates without any evidence. He was being a coward. But that wasn't what he wanted to be. He wanted to protect his clan, and be a hero.

Cherrystar swallowed her grief. She had to visit Lillypaw. Even the best medicine cats weren't immune to normal emotions. She stuck her head into the medicine cats' den and saw Lillypaw, focused on her work. "May I come in?" she asked. It seemed as though every time they were attempting to return to normal, the killer struck again. Cats of Starclan, she wanted to yowl, why can't you tell us anything? She could accept the idea that perhaps some hadn't seen their killers, but what about Littlesneeze? Surely he hadn't died blind to the identity of the killer.

Cherrystar felt old. She wished that she hadn't thought Flypelt and the others as being suspicious. They could have worked together to figure things out that way. But it was too late.

Sunflight sat in camp, hating all the suspicion and fear clawing at his mind. Afraid of my own clanmates, my own home! He felt so certain every time he voted, but he realized now that he'd never truly been confident that he'd been accusing the real murderer. Probably because I wasn't, he thought bitterly. His ears flattened against his head guiltily. And I have to do it again... he felt bad already, accusing his own medicine cat, but he had no better guess. It pained him that that was all it really was - nothing more than a guess.
