Stay away from the pound! (Stray Dog RP) Semi-lit, Accepting

Godric crouched down beside Tolvia and Loka, but instead of hiding, carefully looked through the hole in the fence that Tolvia had seen the dog catcher. It reeked of the man's scent-- a mix of human, tobacco, and the misery of many cats and dogs-- and it was very recent, but he couldn't detect any sign that he was still there.

"I think it's clear," he whispered, sticking his head out of the hole. Nothing in sight except a snow-covered field.

"Go through, Godric." She nipped the shepherds hindleg, silently letting him know that she was there and would back him up if the pound-man returned. Loka let loose an excited yiip as he plunged through the snow, and Tolvia whirled on him, baring her teeth. The lack of noise frightened Loka almost as much as when Tolvia turned on him and bared her teeth -- with noise, so the youngster made himself smaller until Tolvia turned away and back to Godric. "If he appears, either come back or i'll come through and help you get away."

Godric nodded and crawled on his belly through the hole, ignoring the way the fence clawed through his fur as he pushed through. For a moment, he stayed on his belly, afraid to move. But after a second, when nothing happened, he relaxed and stood up.

"Come--" his bark of "come on, it's safe" was cute short as a figure came pelting at him through the snow. The dogcatcher had been hiding in the bushes. He should have smelled him. Flinging himself onto the ground, Godric struggled to get back through the hole, but just as he was halfway through, the man grabbed his hind leg and started pulling.

Godric whirled around and snapped at the man, but of course the fence blocked his way to actually biting him. Nevertheless, the sound of Godric's accompanying snarl made him release the shepherd and he wiggled through the hole. "Run!" he howled to the others.

Noticing Godrics struggle through the fence, Tolvia barked a chorus of aggressive curses at the man, and leapt at the fence. It tembled, but nothing else happened to it. Once Godric was released, Tolvia turned and knocked Loka with her head. "Run, Loka!" The Akita did as he was told and pelted down the snow-filled garden, bursting through the shrub and onto the other side. A public part awaited him, he stood frozen in place as he waited for directions. Tolvia leapt over the shrub and started running as fast as her legs would take her. Loka followed Tolvia, his low endurance meaning he couldn't keep up with her and had to slow down a few times.

Loka and Tolvia came to a dead end part of the park when she turned a wrong corner, and when she turned around the Dog-catcher was standing there with his pole. "Behind me, Loka!" She barked, and Loka turned behind Tolvia. The two dogs were snarling, Tolvia looking the fierce protective mother as she barked frantically at the man. He kept looking around, which Tolvia couldn't understand, so she looked too. The dog-catcher yelled "haHA!" and the noose was around the females neck, choking her as she writhed and rolled and struggled. She was becoming tired, Loka knew this. He leapt forward and snapped at the man, barking loudly.

People had ran from them, seeing two aggressive dogs, not a frightened youngster and a loving mother. Tolvia finally succummed to the noose, laying on the floor with saliva building up around her mouth as she strugged to breath properly. Loka lunged forward and clamped down onto the mans boots, biting through the thin material and into his ankle.

Without hesitation Godric flung himself at the man, clamping down on his arm with his teeth embedded into it, and shook his head violently. The man dropped the pole that was around Tolvia's neck and struggled to free himself of the two snarling dogs.

When the man went down, predatory instinct took Loka over and urged him to charge the man. Loka leapt onto his body and bit into his hip, dragging away from the body, snarling. Tolvia wriggled in the noose, but gave up and instead took ahold of the mans shoulder, pulling away from Loka and the body. She pulled until she heard a pop, and the man screamed. Knowing she had severly injured him, she turned on his legs and bit his knee, pulling that too. The pole dragged along the floor, still hanging onto Tolvia.

Godric let out a sharp bark. "Let's go!" he howled, grabbing hold of the catchpole and jerking it until Tolvia was free of the noose that was connected at the end.

Tolvia felt the noose tighten, and thinking that the man had grabbed it, she let out a frightened growl. As it became loose, she pulled and ducked, getting herself out of it. She wanted to run again, but the noose had tightened up her airways and the most she could do was walk while saliva poured out of her jaws. Loka walked with Tolvia, then burst into a run as she started to breath properly, encouraging her to jog. Tolvia ran instead, alongside Loka.

Cracker heard Godric's howl and ran along with the other dogs, forgetting about her fear.
