As she stopped roaring, she felt the presence of another and heard them land. She turned to find herself face to face with Suri. She heard what he had to say before turning away from him. "No, Suri, I do not want you to leave. I know I am acting selfishly. But I watched my family get murdered before my eyes! How do I know there are others out there for me?" Her voice quieted and she hung her head shamefully. A rare tear slid down her muzzle and, oddly, it seemed to reflect her eyes, almost catching the rainbow.

Svarog nodded his head slightly and seemed to be cheering up a bit. "Yes I am. I do not know quite why, but now.. I feel that my journey has been partially completed in some manner." He smiled, a bit sheepishly, before lying down near Ezra. He trained his eyes on her and for once in his life, he actually was 100% serious about something.

"I see..." Ezra murmured, and fidgeted slightly before placing her head on her paws, unsure of what to do or say. Her eyes gently caught his, and her vivid green chips of emerald stared at him, cold and hard, but with a new shine as it tracked his.

Suri thought over what she'd said, trying to find some way to show her....she wasn't the only one, that he was sure of. Even if the only reason he was sure was that he wanted there to be more dragons, both of his kind and hers. "It's not selfish to want others like you."He told her carefully."If it was, then we'd all be nothing but selfish, really." He gave the rest of her words some thought. He wanted to show her that just because her family was killed, not all of them where, but he also didn't want to insult her."If you survived, then there will be more survivors."He told her, not emphasizing any words, just saying. He saw the tear, but had the sense not to mention it.

He smiled gently at Ezra for a moment before sighing. "So who are all the others here with you? I don't really recognize the other species except the little one as being an Elf dragon." I knew there were 2 others but they had just left the cave. Was the girl upset about something?

She shook her head with a barely perceptible nod before she looked up to Suri. She shook her head, letting the tear fall to the ground. Then, in an oddl loving way, the stepped forward and gently set her head against his neck in something like a nuzzle. "Thank you, Suri." She then pulled back and flexed her wings. "Shall we return to the others? Or perhaps continue on the journey?"

Elf dragon. So that was what they were called. "Well... there was a bigger one then us, one that breathed fire, and one that has no wings and looks rather like a snake." Was that all? SHe could not remember.

Suri smiled as Lunaris leant into him. She was nice, and seemed to have recovered a little now. "we should probably call the others" Suri said. "They'll be irritated if we leave them behind"

ANNA, LIKE SURI, was feeling more than slightly jealous. She was somewhat depressed as she watched the two spiked dragons begin an awkward conversation. This was how her friendship with Cornelius had started. She smiled as the memories came back, slowly at first, and then in a flood of images.

Anna had been flying through unfamiliar terrain, and she had decided to take on the colors of a geographical dragon so she could memorize it. She looked below her as cityscapes, valleys, and forests melted into the general makeup of things. The cities appeared as gray spots sporadically placed in different places on the rolling hills of the emerald green valley, as if a master artist had painted a picture of the landscape and then a toddler had come along to add his own flair to the landscape. A warm wind lifted her high in the air as she gazed upon the serene picture. She allowed the image to settle in her mind as she flew high above the wondrous beauty that surrounded her on all sides. As she thought, something her size hit her head-on, and she toppled out of the sky. She managed to right herself quickly and flew down to land gracefully beside a downed elf dragon. He was obviously a geographical dragon, and he grumbled at his clumsiness within the walls of his mind. He looked up when he saw Anna and blushed, his pale white cheeks turning cherry red. He said, "Sorry about that. I wasn't looking where I was going."
"No, the fault was mine," Anna insisted. "I was distracted by the landscape." She gestured with her wing to the area around them.
"Are you sure? I am quite clumsy," he insisted.
"I am positive," Anna replied with a laugh. "What's your name?"
"Cornelius Dameon Viridem XXI," he replied. "And yours?"
"I am Analyse Sapphira III," Anna had said.
"What a beautiful name," Cornelius said.

Anna sighed softly, wishing those days would return. But alas, they would not become reality again. She allowed her mind to drift again, and she smiled as another memory flitted through her consciousness.

Anna and Cornelius had been invited to a celebration at the Archmage's castle. Sounds of gaiety came from all directions, and Anna had taken on a purple hue in order to memorize the lively songs played by the orchestra for the humans to dance to. Cornelius had gone off somewhere to speak with the Grand Archmage privately. She hadn't seen him in about an hour. Anna watched the humans step in time to the rhythm of a sprightly tune. She joined the orchestra with her voice, harmonizing with every note. Other elf dragons attracted the children, and several orange ones had instigated a game of hide-and-seek with a group of toddlers. Small children clambered over and under a young, white female fire dragon. Anna had thought it was strange, but made no comment. Cornelius suddenly appeared out of nowhere and said, "Anna, can you come with me for a moment? We need to talk."
Anna nodded and followed him down many halls and corridors until they reached a marble pavilion with a cascade of pink flowers covering all of the sides and vines with violet blooms crawling up the pillars that reached the domed ceiling. They landed on a bench placed in the center of the pavilion, and Cornelius presented Anna with a silver ring, topped with a shimmering blue seeing stone. His gray eyes stared into hers, and he asked her a question. "Anna, will you be my mate?"
Anna was surprised, and she almost gave in to the temptation that told her she should say yes, but she sighed and finally said, "I can't."

The memory faded, and Anna found herself wishing for a moment that she had said yes, rather than denying him. She wondered what life would be like for her if she had. She would probably have hatchlings by now, and her parents, brothers, and sisters would come to visit their new family members. She remembered the female fire dragon she had seen at the Archmage's castle, and flew to Lunaris. "Lunaris, have you visited the Archmage's castle before? Like for a ball or something?" she asked. She knew that Lunaris had probably not been the fire dragon she'd seen at the ball, but still, chances that she wasn't were slim, because she was the first white fire dragon to be born in over five hundred years.

KIEDAN WOKE SLOWLY, stirring from his sleep. His mind was still foggy as details of the previous day came back to him. He heard the other two dragons, Hawk and the elf dragon, and looked over at the elf dragon when it spoke. He nodded respectfully. "Welcome, Shadow. You are heading to the Archmage's castle, I presume?" he asked. He then turned to Hawk. He looked the sea dragon over for a moment before speaking. "Yes, I slept quite fitfully. And yourself?" he asked. He stretched, getting the kinks out of his back that a long night's sleep had put in him. He stretched his wings and experimentally flapped them a few times, working the aches out of them, and then pulled them back to his sides. He pawed through his belongings until he found a deer to chew on, and ate his breakfast in peace. He wouldn't have to go hunting for a few days, but he would eventually need to replenish his supply of food.

He stretched again and stood when he had finished eating. He put what was left of the deer carcass in his cow skin, and looked at the other two dragons. "Should we get moving, or would you rather hunt before we leave?" he asked.

CANDRA WAS IN HER CAVE, deciding which parcels to take with her to the Grand Archmage's castle. She cast a glance at the fair amount of gold she had hidden away in a hole, which she had covered with a house-sized boulder. She would not need any of that on her journey; she would have to return for it once she had settled in at the Archmage's castle. It had rained most of the night, but still, Candra was surprised to find large hailstones the size of an elf dragon covering the ground. It was unnatural. She shook her head. Her eyes widened in surprise and she almost fainted when she looked up from her musings to see a downed female riding dragon a mere hundred yards away. She was even more surprised to see that the female riding dragon was multicolored -- quite uncommon for one of her species. She approached cautiously, careful not to wake the other dragon, lest she be hostile. She examined the unfortunate soul from a distance, casting a wary eye on the various bruises and cuts the other dragon had acquired. She decided she wouldn't mind company, and took the other dragon in. She cared for its wounds and then gathered the things she would take to the Archmage's castle in two moose skins.
