Storm watched the pups, he said nothing. Suddenly one pup managed to crawl anway from the others and sit down beside Storm. He gave the pup a disgusted look and scooted away. The little creature growled at him and scooted over beside him once more. This time Storm smiled. He might actually like this little ball of fire.

Eyolf growled as he watched one of his pups approach Storm. Didn't Ayame care that the mutt was so close to the newborn pups? He narrowed his eyes as he examined the she-wolf for a hint of fear in her face. Seeing nothing he decided to at least focus her attention on the pup, "So what's that one's name?" he asked nodding his head towards Storm.

Ayame's head snapped up as she looked at her eldest. She paused registering Storm's closeness before answering, trying to ignore the former loner. After all, she had nothing wrong with him so why should she now? "That's the eldest, and your only son, Kibo." She paused and licked the runt lying against her warm belly, "This is Chinua, the youngest, and that one scampering towards Rogue is Yumi." she sighed with a mixture of exhaustion from the long night and amusement at Eyolf's obvious confusion. She could tell he was still having problems adjusting to the pups, and even more problems with adjusting to Storm's apparent interest. She closed her eyes, pausing to think before turning to Rogue. "Could you and Storm take watch over the pups while Eyolf and I sleep alone in our den. I am very tired and we have much to discuss. I am sure they will be fine with you for a few hours and I would much appreciate it." she hoped she wasn't being too forward.

Storm nodded and began to pick Kibo up. He gently picked him up by his scruff and began to carry him off to the river.

Eyolf was startled. Instant paranoia crept into his thoughts as he saw Storm walk off with his only heir to being Alpha towards the river. Millions of possibilities of what Storm might do circled in his head and the word drown passed through his head more than once. He bared his teeth as a growl slipped past his lips. He took a step forwards preparing to block Storm's way.

"Stop," Ayame exclaimed as she staggered to her feet, "I trust him, and if you trust my judgement you will trust him too," she said, reading her mates thoughts. She slowly padded forward and gave a pleading look towards Eyolf.

Chinua scrambled to her tiny paws, unwilling to let her mother go without a fight. She butted her head against her mother's hind leg and fell on her rear with a small thud. A whimper escaped her mouth as she experienced her first fall, but she unsteadily got to her feet once more. She checked her siblings to make sure they had not heard her moment of fear and butted her mother's leg once more, careful to do it lightly this time.

Kibo swayed side to side in Storm's jaws. Storm looked foreward, at the river. Once they arrived Storm set Kibo on the ground and lapped up some fresh water. Kibo imitated him. Storm smiled. "I like this guy." he said to himself in his head. Kibo yelped playfully up at Storm and got in a playing stance. Storm pretended to be vicous, he launched himself at Kibo, all the while growling fakely. Kibo dodged Storm's attack and growled playfully.

Eyolf was frozen as he watched Storm. He could almost make himself imagine that Storm was actually fighting with his helpless newborn. Quickly he turned his head away so he wouldn't be tempted to lose control again. He turned towards the den, swishing his tail as a signal that Rogue was free to take Chinua and Yumi away. He lay down with his head on his paws and turned to Ayame, "Did you want to talk or sleep first?" he asked, curious as to what there was to discuss.

Ayame struggled with a response, fighting with her instincts that told her to close her eyes and never wake up and the importance of what she had to say. She sat down, deciding to talk first so she could sleep better with the knowledge that everything was dealt with that needed to be for the time-being. She took a deep breath before hurriedly rushing out the words she had to say. "I don't want to be Alphess anymore," she paused briefly before rushing on, preventing any interruptions, "I want to have more time to take care of our pups, and I want you to step down from being Alpha with me. I know it is a lot to ask but I think our time is over and that we should step aside so a wolf that is truly prepared to sacrifice every last drop of her energy for her pack can make the decisions that need to be made. I think that Rogue should be the new Alphess of the pack and if that means Storm will lead by her side then so be it." she glanced at Eyolf's stunned face as she finished her speech and then turned to face the opening to their den.

Chinua was stunned as she rushed away from her parents' den. She butted Yumi playfully before whispering in her ear what she had just heard, but not quiet enough so that Rogue who was nearby wouldn't hear. She licked her sister's ear before sitting down and scratching her own ear. She was agitated, she wanted to go explore this new place outside her den now that she wasn't hungry anymore. The smells and sounds were so interesting. And there was so much to see. She wanted to rush off, but she afraid of asking Rogue if she could without her big sister.

Rogue's ears perked up at Chinua's news.She herded Yumi and Chinua toward the river,careful that they stayed within seeing range.ROgue nuzzled the two she-pups.

Yumi squeaked and licked Rogue's nose by stretching her body way up.
