"You know as well as I do, if she doesn't get better she can't be an apprentice," Brightstar curled his tail around his legs.

Cheetahblaze pressed his nose to Brightstar's, teeth bared. "I know Starfall would love to see all her kits happy.", he growled. "If you think she won't be a warrior, or helpful, then tell her.
I don't want to ruin a young cat's life."

Cheetahblaze stepped back. "You would never understand.", he said.

Brightstar glared pointedly at him. "She's alive, isn't she?"

"Yes, which I'm thankful of.", he snapped.

"Don't tell me I don't understand, then. Redkit is dead, and she'll never even get the opportunities Starkit will." He stalked past the warrior towards his den.
