"I'm Honeyrose." She said, scooting closer to the poor little pup. Perhaps this pup was from an enemy clan. How cruel, to dump an innocent pup all alone in the woods. She smiled at the pup, hoping to reassure this little animal. Honeyrose struggled to think of something to say. Where did you come from was too rude sounding and the pup might not even know. And would this pup have a pack name? Maybe Honeyrose should have asked, but instead she blurted out, "I'm from Riverpack." Honeyrose's mind set off alarms. What if this pup was from Shadowpack or something? Or what if she had a patrol behind her, ready to attack. Honeyrose scanned the area cautiously, her warm brown gaze flitting across beech leaves and oak tree trunks.

“My father always said to stay away from packs. But when mom hid me out here she must have thought me being with a pack was better than staying with her. Or at least my chances of living would be better. My mother hadn’t been the same since two legs caught my dad...” Ripplepup said. She wondered why Honeybreeze was looking around. The pup didn’t smell anything out of the ordinary. She had wanted to ask if she could join the pack but tried to think of a way that didn’t seem rude. “Do you think I could join Riverpack? I won’t cause any trouble.” Ripplepup said. She was speaking the truth. She had heard a bit of clan life from her dad. There was a leader for each clan and rules. The pup hadn’t gotten in trouble yet and certainly wasn’t about to break pack rules if accepted.

Reedpaw dragged his paws as he headed towards the leader's den. I was just trying to help! his mind protested. I'm so done for. And if there was any chance that we would be trying to go to the gathering, Froststar certainly wouldn't pick me. He approached the entrance to the den, and reluctantly announced his presence to the alpha. "Um... I'm here, Froststar. It's Reedpaw. B-Bramblestream couldn't come." Guilt surged through Reedpaw's mind, but he refused to think or dwell on it. Just make it through this meeting, you can do this, just make it through...

Froststar was sitting down, his white back appearing gray against the shadows of his den, and his stature seemed to tower over Reedpaw, rage blazed in his eyes, but his body didn't show it. "So, Reedpaw," He breathed out heavily which quickly evolved into a chuckle. "Let's go over your crimes shall we? You went to find a dead apprentice, and now I have a pathetic, lame warrior. You went home, and now I have a dead warrior. You went to the medicine den, and now I have a dead medic. I should've known from the moment that you were born that you were nothing but a bad omen sent from the dark forest. I suspect that Bramblestream isn't here because he's dead." Froststar twisted his lip up to show his fangs, a very clear sign that he was angry, but he held his stance, and didn't take a step near the apprentice. "So," He grunted with effort to make his voice calm, "What should you're punishment be? What do you think, Reedpaw?" He asked spitting out his name like acid.

Reedpaw opened and closed his muzzle several times, unable to say anything. It's all my fault. Smokenose, Foxpaw, Mossbrook, Bramblestream, it's all my stupid fault. How was I so mouse-brained? It's my fault that their dead, and now the whole pack has to suffer for it. Reedpaw hung his head as he stammered, "I-I d-don't know." His heart ached with guilt and shame, and the apprentice knew that no punishment Froststar could deal out would be worse than what he felt on the inside.

Honeyrose nodded. "Of course! Actually..." She swiveled around, making Ripplepup duck under her long legs, "We could go there now. If you want."

The young pup was relieved but also a bit nervous. “Do you think the pack will like me? I just wonder if they would accept me even though I wasn’t born in the pack. Are there any pups?” Ripplepup hoped she could make some friends.

Honeyrose frowned and scooted a bit closer to the pup. "There are no other pups, I'm sorry." she said quietly. She longed to nuzzle the little pup's head in comfort, as she already felt a motherly connection the lost dog. "But..." She paused. Maybe she...no. She would do this, no matter what her parents said. "I'll always be there." She said with a smile, "I- I will foster you, if you'd like."
