"Thank you," Hawkstar said, and dipped his head. Inside, he felt worried. What would happen if he became sick? Ospreyfeather would be able to handle things, but he could lose one life... or more.

Treefur walked into his den, disappearing for a moment, then popped out with some small bright green leaves topped with some thick honey. "Here, swallow this before the honey leaks off. The catmint is to cure your cough, and the honey is for your throat in case it's sore." He meowed, handing it to Hawkstar.

Hawkstar chewed the herbs quietly. After a moment, he swallowed. "The gathering is soon. Have you seen Rivermist?"

Treefur shook his head, frowning. "No, haven't seen her in a while. The last time I did was when she left with you and Talontip on the patrol. Is there something you need her for?"

"Nothing in particular," Hawkstar said. "I'm just wondering what she has found out... and if she is in danger. Also, I need to plan what I'm going to say at the gathering."
In some cases, no news meant good news. Rivermist hadn't been gone for too long... but Hawkstar couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong-- whether it had to do with the badger or not. A thought suddenly struck him. The scent. What had he smelled during the patrol?
Should I try and find her? Hawkstar thought. But Rivermist seemed like she wanted to handle things herself. I don't want to get in the way. I am leader though, so I am allowed to draw the line somewhere.
"Should I try and find her?" Hawkstar suddenly questioned. "I'd like to know what's going on... and she should come back soon."

"Hmmm, if you're worried so much about her, I guess so." Treefur meowed, tilting his head a bit. He felt a bit confused with Hawkstar's concern about Rivermist, but shrugged it off. "She's tough, but if she's gone looking for the badger, she's officially gone crazy in my opinion. I know for a fact that Rivermist is dead-scared of those things."

Rivermist frowned as she heard no response and walked away. I have more important things to do. She thought to herself as she looked around. Her body shivered at each sound, felting scared of the thought of a badger in her clans territory.

"Hmm," Hawkstar said. "Thanks, Treefur. I think I'll go. Can you tell Ospreyfeather where I've gone?" He picked at a piece of mouse before chewing off a bit.

Treefur nodded. "Sure. Good luck!" He meowed as padded back inside his den.

Skyfrost stalked behind Rivermist like a shadow, silent and hidden, ready to help Rivermist and prove her wrong.

With his throat feeling much better, Hawkstar set off into the forest. He padded over to the border. After picking up Rivermist's scent, he followed it.
"Rivermist?" he called.
