Litchpaw eyes Ashfang from where she sat she examined his body language very closely.. why did it seem like he had it for Windstar, like slmthing about windstar just twists his fur the wrong way. She kept quiet, eyeing him for a moment before letting her gaze befall the rest of clan looking for any similar behavior. She let out a brief sigh, before this she always ignored him, always went against what he said, always caused him trouble. But she guessed all that changed after she saw the face he made, it was different, a face she never thought she would see him make. She promised to herself she would turn out to be the best apprentice he would have, and turn out to be the best warrior.. but could she really live up to that though.. could she make him proud? She didnt want to disapoint.. and she didn't want to see him make that face again.

"As you already know, it's almost moon high, and Starclan waits for my response. Stormfall died bravely defending the clan against rogues, and I must choose another cat to serve in his stead. The choice was hard indeed, but I hope that our friend here respects my wishes."Windstar spoke as he turned his gaze towards the deputy, he felt like he should leave the explanations for his death for another time. He faced Eelstrike, and stared into the senior's eyes for a couple of moments, before turning his gaze to Sorrelcloud. After a long silence, he went on with a grave voice. "I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of Mistclan is Echolight." He cleared his throat and waited so the murmurings and exclamations of other clan members would cease. "The meeting is not over. There are hard times coming, and while many would consider this moment inappropiate, I must continue with an apprentice ceremony." Windstar spoke sternly, before turning towards a little cat known as Birdkit in the crowd. "Birdkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Birdpaw. Your mentor will be Sorrelcloud. I hope Sorrelcloud will pass down all she knows on to you."He then faced Sorrelcloud, and continued. "Sorrelcloud, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Thrushfire, and you have shown yourself to be kind and loyal. You will be the mentor of Birdpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Birdpaw."

"You heard that Eelstrike? Echolight as deputy! Never would've thought of it. I wonder what made him choose her."Moorheart whispered to the senior next to him, before facing the leader once again to hear the rest of his words. "Thrushfire was my father! Glad to hear he's still remembered in these ceremonies. Eelstrike, it seemed Windstar looked at you, could it be that he wanted to choose you instead of Echolight?"

"Such a lovely lass.."Lindenfur mumbled before sitting up. He began to move toward the leader's rock without much ease, his age was slowing him down considerably. But in that night, Lindenfur felt like a young apprentice waiting to receive his warrior name, maybe because all clan meetings seemed interesting to him. He thought the words of the apprentice who was guiding him but soon forgot about the whole discussion as he sat down and listened to Windstar's words. "That she-cat barely finished mentoring her first apprentice. But he turned out to be a fine warrior in the end. Still, why choose such a young she-cat?"He thought.

With an uncertain smile the now deputy she-cat nodded at the leader's declarative. At first she wasn't sure what was the reasoning behind choosing her as the deputy, but she quickly learned to accept Windstar's decision without questioning it as her trust in him is substantial - he must have a good reason for giving the position to her. Her face turned to face the emerald grass, which was covered in a fine layer of dew from the early hours of the morning. To be truthful, she did expect to get some hate from some of the other cats, as she was quite young and less experienced than some of the other older warriors, however she wasn't going to let that torment her, she was going to be a deputy for everyone and will stand up and support those who can't themselves.

"I shall now assign the patrols for the next day. Slivermoon, Willowpaw and Moorheart will make tomorrow's dawn patrol. Tigerstep, Eelstrike and Oakpaw shall make the dusk patrol. I expect the stockpile to be full by the next noon."Windstar said as he jumped off the leader's rock and called for Echolight. "Echolight, come bury Stormfall with me."The leader ordered as he grabbed the scruff of the former deputy with a certain coldness and walked off to the edge of the clan camp, expecting the appointed deputy to follow him. Windstar started questioning his decision, but cleared his mind as he looked behind at the eyes full of determination of the she-cat he had chosen.

The calico she-cat grit her teeth, as she heard Windstar announce Echolight deputy. She glanced at Lindenfur and mewed," So what do you think of our new deputy?" Her gaze landed on Windstar, a brow slightly raising. She'd never seen her leader so cold, even towards his old deputy. The long-haired she-cat tilted her head before returning to Lindenfur.

The tabby snorted, then softly hissed," Could he at least appointed someone with more experience deputy. Or at least a cat with a better attitude." He curled his lips over his fangs, before he glared over at the cream-coated she-cat then got up and muttered," I'm going back to sleep. See you in the morning."

A single brow rose as Windstar revealed the new deputy, thought it was not who she was expecting. She had caught the look he sent to Eelstrike, and began to wonder if the tom would regret his choice. But her thinking was interrupted by Ashfangs hissing, and she turned to face the tom. "Ashfang, you haven't known Echolight for long, you have no idea who she is or what she's like." She mewed calmly, before nodding and letting the tom leave.

Well I didn't see that coming, but it's his choice. He thought before bringing his gaze to Moorheart, the tom let out a soft purr. " I don't know, to either of those questions. But truthfully, I don't know if I would have accepted. It's a great honor, but I also have to worry about my apprentice." He paused, then narrowed his eyes and mewed," But in the end, I think I would have taken it." Eelstrike looked at Moorheart, then mewed," I remember Thrushfire, good cat. Trained a few good warriors."

Darkheart huffed as he announced the new deputy, she was confused about why he chose a cat with little experience but she respected the decision and didn't question it. Darkheart smiled as Windstar spoke about Birdkit and assigned him as an apprentice to Sorrelcloud. She hoped that one day she would have an apprentice herself. She hoped that one day Windstar would assign her an apprentice, a kit that she could train and watch as it grew up, a cat she would form a special bond with. The rest of the meeting was patrols, she hadn't been chosen to go out this time but it gave her time to talk to the other members of the clan. She looked around at the other cats who were talking to each other, probably about the new deputy and how young the she-cat was.

Litchpaw sat there for a moment she could say she approved of windstars choice but she couldnt let that be apparent. Though she was soo positive he was going to choose eelstrike. Her eats flickered as she watched echolight leave with windstar. "I pray that this doesnt burden you with to many hardships.." she whispered. With no task at hand and nothing left to do the young tabby shecat decided to leave camp and practice fishing more, a exhausted and defeated look in her eyes. All the emotion arpund the camp made her think back to what ever family she had.. would they be proud of her? Is there any living cat alive shes related to? The thought pained her. It seemed like every cat here had family who loved them.. but what about her? Her mind seemed to fog with thoughts as she began to head to her destination of fishing.

The silver tabby cocked her head in thought as Windstar chose the new deputy. Though Echolight was indeed young, Honeysong held a respect for the she-cat. In her opinion, Echolight would be a good deputy.

"With time, of course," she whispered to herself. She sent a prayer to Starclan that she'd handle the position well. Honeysong then watched Windstar and Echolight take the late deputy for burial. Her peaceful expression turned grave as she saw Stormfall. She also held great respect for him, and though they weren't close, she didn't believe he deserved his end. She debated whether or not to assist, but held her tongue and retired to her den.

Willowpaw watched the whole thing with detached interest. He didn't know Echolight at all, though he did think she was rather pretty.
His attention was directed to Stormfall during the meeting. He observed him with a seemingly cold look; it was all too similar to his own father's end. It wasn't long ago for him, and there was still a gaping wound in his heart. Hatred for rogues burned passionately, and he felt his attachment to the clan grow stronger.

For a mere second, she hesitantly stood, frozen, but not in fear but in ambivalence. Rapidly her paws hauled her towards the leader who dragged the fallen body of the previous deputy. With a tint of a melancholy sadness her eyes gleamed at the lifeless body of the tom, uncertain of how she could herself fill the gap that the previous deputy left. Her paws caught up to the leader, striding slowly beside him, with a cold expression fixed upon her gentle face. "Where do you wish to bury the body Windstar?" She asked patiently with a hushed tone.

Windstar stopped near the camp entrance, near a small field covered with plants and flowers and all kinds. Many generations of medicine cats planted seeds over the graves of fallen clan members. The clan leader chose a spot and started digging at a moderate pace. "I actually want to talk to you, Echolight. I hope you realize that I chose you for a reason, a single reason. Stormfall chose you. He said you have something in you, a flower of leadership and trust blooming inside you. I have reasons to consider Stormfall's intuition."Windstar spoke as he continued to dig, until he realized that it was enough. He gently grabbed the scruff of his fallen comrade and laid his body at the bottom of the grave. "I had no other reason whatsoever. I can say I even dislike you, Echolight. The moment I chose Stormfall as my deputy, I rested my legacy upon him, my dreams, my beliefs. Are you worthy of this legacy?"He said sternly as he started to cover his body with dirt and mud, without stopping for a moment to say goodbye.

"Say what you want, but I'm tired after today. I'm going to see what I can find at the stockpile. See you tomorrow, Eelstrike."Moorheart said as he padded off to the prey pile only to find half a trout. "Sheesh, who doesn't finish their meal?"The warrior thought without suspecting that the fish was actually the unfinished meal of Windstar. He swallowed what was left of the trout and went to the warriors den to sleep.
