Saberfoot couldn't help it. The apprentice's reaction was too good to be true and, so, the older tom lay rolling on the ground laughing his lungs out along side Willowfeather [he knew he could count on her]. Bothering Bearpaw was one of the most amusing things he had ever had the pleasure of doing. He was such an uptight ball of fluff [at least Saberfoot thought so] and needed to let loose every once in awhile. However, that had yet to happen. The apprentice couldn't take a joke and [even if that was why the elder of the two continued to torment him] not much progress was being made.
It wasn't very difficult to ruffle his feathers and Saberfoot couldn't be more happy the clan had someone like him in it. It lessened his boredom and gave him something to scheme about [other than how to take annoying Lostcreek to the next level which, by the way, he had to talk to Willowfeather about].
Even so, the large tom had made it his mission to keep the clan in a positive mood or, at least, from thinking about the past [he knew better than anyone how draining it could be to waste time on the past.] With his pranks, cats could focus on either a] being pissed at him or b] being amused with him. Most would think his only motive was to annoy everyone, but he was a smart cat [Much smarter than that.] and he wasn't about to let this clan fall apart. Too many had gone insane from fear or, worse, sadness. It wouldn't do for the same to happen here. He finally had a family and he'd be crowfood before he lost them as well.
That being said, Saberfoot was still a kitten at heart and would never pass up the opportunity to annoy others for his own entertainment. And, so, he lay on his back looking up at the pissed off tom with amusement in his eyes. He found it funny how adorably small the cat was while trying to be intimidating. It was no secret that Saberfoot was the largest tom- ahem cat in the clan. Being a good 16 pounds and having a fluffy coat would do that, though he subconsciously tries to down-play it by laying on his back or crouching low when talking to others [Huh, I didn't realize that.].
And now, here he was on his back looking up at the adorably intimidating apprentice who made it his life mission to constantly bare the pearly whites in Saberfoot's direction. With an amused mrrow, the siberian tom answered the rhetorical question "It's morning! Time to get up!" In an instant, he bolted up and ran behind Willowfeather in the pathetic attempt to hide from Falconstar.
