Who: Averra Ren, Caelestis warrior, fae
With: Nobody
Feeling: Irritated
The pale gray she wolf sniffed at the damp ground, hoping for the scent of prey. She hadn't eaten for two sunrises; Averra's legs were becoming slightly shaky from hunger and she blinked often, light headed. Growling, she inwardly hoped that the Nox pack was suffering as much as they were. Realizing what she was doing, Av quickly glanced around to make sure no one saw and corrected her thoughts.
'I hope they're not starving too badly.' Stretching, the warrior lay on a smooth, flat boulder bathed in a weak ray of sun.
'At least it's warm. Life could be a lot worse.' Picturing the territory bound in ice and blanketed by snow, Averra shuddered and rolled on the rock, letting the faint warmth seep into her pelt.
Watching the rest of the pack start to wake, Av squinted at the sun as a few plump geese flew over, honking obnoxiously. "They're mocking me," she growled irritably, scowling. "Stupid birds." Briefly wondering if they would land anywhere near, the warrior stared at a misshapen patch of shadows on the rock and reminded herself to keep a pleasant expression on her face. Deciding that she might as well do something, Averra heaved herself to her paws and trotted off into the territory, hoping to find something edible.
'The weather's nice. Why isn't any prey running around?' Sniffing, she found only the wet scents of dirt and water floating around, mixed with the smell of plants. Poking at a spiky orange leaf, Av decided that it didn't look that edible, and that it would be to prickly to eat anyway. Growling again, she continued to pace throughout the forest, checking out a plant now and then to see if it looked alright to eat. None of them did.
Staying in the woods, the warrior moved slowly, wanting to conserve energy until she could find food. Lifting a paw, Av caught herself thinking of the geese again, replaying their honks in her mind. Frowning, she looked up and pricked her ears, realizing that she was actually hearing the calls. Her heart starting to flutter a bit with excitement, she turned her head until the location of the geese was clear, then trotted towards the sound. Inhaling the crisp morning air deeply, Averra allowed herself a cheery smile and some bitter thoughts about their rivals as she came upon a large lake, surface glittering in the slight breeze. Far out on the water sat a trio of geese, jerking their long necks and honking loudly. "Typical," she muttered angrily, then turned and padded away, scuffing the dirt viciously as she did so.
