Eaglestar yawned, opening her eyes and glancing up at the sky. It was just past dawn. She reluctantly got to her paws, wincing slightly as her burned paw pad stung. It was nearly healed now, but still ached. She shook her head slightly, trying to ignore it. She pushed through the grass to enter the clearing that was serving as their temporary camp. The trees here were scarce--they relied only on the tall grass to hide them. It was too open, exposed. They wouldn't be able to stay here long. Eaglestar shivered as the cold wind blew through her short fur. The sooner they found a proper forest, the better. She looked around to see who was awake.
