Nikie sat between two trees the marked the middle of the camp. It was sunny, with a few clouds blotting the blue sky. Cole stumbled from some roots at one of the trees. Nikie nudged the young pup back into the den under the tree.

Dagger stretched in her nest. Last night had been good for her, she liked it when Sontag and Nikie were having an argument, because she knew who would always win. She smiled to herself as she stood up. It was about time she started assessing morning duties.

Sontag padded groggily from his nest. It had been a long night, a bad night at the Gathering. Again, he had lost the argument to Nikie. He growled at the thought of her. He hated her, he wanted this forest to himself and his pack. He swore he would have it one day, soon, hopefully.
