Crystalheart nodded, agreeing. "I'm sure my kits would agree as well. I raised them to believe that Shadows are evil. Well, at least I hope I did." She stood and rested her tail on Shadowpatch's shoulder. "We still have time. Just as long as they're not plotting anything, we have all the time in the world." She paused, hesitating. "We could start talking to other cats and hopefully get an insight on their views on the Shadows," she offered, then frowned. "No, that will make them suspicious. We need a way to figure out who's on whose side." She had completely forgotten that the main reason they had come out here was to talk and hunt, but now they were plotting against the Shadows.

Shadowpatch's tail was twitching back and forth. "I think we can count on Eagleheart and Dragonsong, and probably your kits then, but for the rest I have no idea." I don't even know if Boapaw will agree, he thought, agonized. "Some of the younger cats might be swayed, or overpowered anyway. As for figuring out who's who, I think if we just pay attention to how cats act we might be able to get some idea of how they all feel. Maybe." He sighed.

Ravenwing smiled. "Oh, nothing really," she meowed casually, strolling about the den. "Just mentioning a few things about me getting a new apprentice here and there." She grinned to herself but his it from the kit's view as she kept strolling along casually, seeing whether Sweetkit would admit she had listened or speak up.

Crystalheart nodded. "If we see they're leaning on our side, they may need a gentle push and a bit of persuading to get them to see the Shadows for who they truly are. Tell the younger ones of the history of the Shadows. We won't know anything until we give it a shot," she reasoned.

Ravenwing chuckled as she looked down at the kit. "Don't worry, Sweetkit," She laughed. "I knew you were eavesdropping." She prodded the kit gently. "Do you think I would have let you stay in the den if it had been a serious matter?" She reasoned, getting down to Sweetkit's level. "Thanks for admitting to it though. Honesty is the first step towards being a good medicine cat," she purred. "But let's not make eavesdropping a habit."

Shadowpatch sighed. "I think you should talk to the younger cats, since half of them are your kin, or think they are." he mewed, with only a touch of bitterness. "Or, you know, whoever it's convenient to talk to. I'm just saying the apprentices are more likely to be open with you." He looked over at Crystalheart. "How is Boapaw doing? I never really wanted her, I guess, so it's unfair of me to want her back, but at the same time I feel terrible about lying to her, and I do love her all the same."

Crystalheart nodded. "It'll take some time. And Boapaw is doing good. I've seen her confidence is faltering because of the whispering but she's working hard."

Ravenwing chuckled. "I'm sure you won't. Now, let's get down to business. Do you want to help me reorganize my herbs?" She asked the kit.

Shadowpatch sighed. "You mean the way everybody is wondering who her actual parents are?" He mewed. "Well, at least they're ignoring me, possibly because they know Heatherflight and I are no longer together and I'm about as straight as a snake's body." he snorted. "Thanks for taking care of her." he purred.

Crystalheart rolled her eyes and smiled. "Yeah, that's what I mean," she meowed and nudged Shadowpatch. "And it was the best I could do, raising her. She needed a mothers care and I was there to take her in."

Shadowpatch nodded. "I name you every time I pray to StarClan. You and Boapaw." he meowed gratefully. He glanced around him. "Er- I suppose we should hunt, if we don't want to draw attention to ourselves after meeting out here." he mewed. "But it was so nice to be able to talk freely for once." He smiled, feeling like he genuinely had something good to smile about for once, rather than simply a dearth of bad things.

Kinktail slunk into camp with a maw full of prey. Leaving her catch on the pile, she found a sunny spot to lie in, out of the way of most cats, glaring daggers at any living cat who passed too close. She would not be so rude to any Shadow, but hated every living cat with a passion. She didn't see them as themselves, but the descendants of her tormentors- she recognized features, fur patterns, the way the muscles rippled under fur. It was infuriatingly familiar and she longed to sink her teeth into flesh, though she held off, recalling that morning's unpleasantness. I'll get someone alone in the forest with me, then take my revenge. she decided, her eyes flickering across camp as she waited for her opportunity.

Crystalheart dipped her head. "Yeah, I suppose. I've caught my breath now, so let's get hunting. You can't possibly be tired though. I had my first litter when you weren't even born yet!" She smiled and flicked his ear with her tail tip teasingly. She then lifted her head to scent the air.

Ravenwing purred and led the kit into the storage area. The area was familiar, and the black medicine cat remembered her days in here with her mother and mentor, learning the herbs and remedies since she was a kit. She pawed a group of herbs out of their hole and showed them to Sweetkit. "Do you know what these are?" She asked the kit, letting her sniff and look at the leaves.

"Tired? Are you crazy?" Shadowpatch challenged, crouching. "I could out-hunt an elder like you any day of the moon!" He fell silent, tasting the air for prey-scent, then set of as silently as he could, following the trail of a rabbit that had been through not too long ago.
