Sunpaw soon finished, then said " You should be up and ready within the next 3 days or so. You may feel sore tomorrow, but that's just from what you just went through." The she-cat sat in her nest, yawning, then soon fell asleep soundly.

"Go away!" Batpaw said again, but against his own rules it came out as a yowl. He could hear Windtail behind him; he tried to run faster, but he was in an unfamiliar part of the territory. He didn't know his way around; he forced to slow down, and inevitably, the med cat caught up with him. The petite tom did more than yowl as Windtail tackled him; he hissed, spat, and basically stayed just within the boundary of 'not attacking' another cat.

But as Windtail demanded and explanation, he just laid there heaving, unable to muster to the strength to fight anymore. The young cat forced himself to swallow the sadness, rage and confusion building up in his throat. He tightly shut his maw, but it only lasted a few seconds. The words just exploded out. "You hate me! Every time I do something, it's 'kit do this' and 'kit do that'. It's not my fault that we didn't have the right herbs. I was willing to improvise; that's what a real healer is supposed to do," he said, his voice just shy of a wail. I sound like an immature idiot, but-but- "All you every do is praise Sunpaw and berate me. When is the last time you even checked on me!? Not to mention Sunpaw's picking up on your habits, she won't even talk to me anymore!" Realizing that he was sounding more and more like a kit, Batpaw began pounding his mentor hard in the chest, trying to get up.

"Just leave me alone! I don't want to do this anymore! I quit! You happy? You have all the time you want with Sunpaw! Just go away!" I can't do this anymore... I just can't... take it.... I"m done! Ravenstar will live, he has Sunpaw, I can just leave- everyone will be happy!

"I never hated you!" He yowled at BatPaw, trying his best to stay in place, desbite the constant pain in his chest."Dock just wasn´t going to work at that time! I never said it wouldn´t hurt later! I´ve never blamed you at anything! You keep thinking that I´m bad, while I´m not! I´ve tried my best to be a good mentor, but you need to understand I can´t always be the perfect mentor! I will yell, I will scream, I will swear! That doesn´t make you any less of a medicine cat!" He yowled loudly before letting go, dropping on the ground and panting heavily. He didn´t want this. Not for BatPaw or himself. He didn´t want anyone to feel like this.'

"3 days?" She sighed quietly."I hope LeopardFur will handle all of these tasks." She added lightly."After all, one day she´ll be a leader herself..." She sighed gently and placed her head down, closing her eyes as she wanted to rest.

Sunpaw nodded, then said " Don't worry, I know she will." She then fell back asleep, noticing Windtail was gone and though he was just going to the dirtplace.

"Yeah right," Batpaw yowled back, now throwing his hindlegs into Windtail. Yelling met with yelling was never a good thing, and for an already mentally and distraught cat, it was like a nightmare. "Then just say that! Not 'can't I not smell the blood'! I was smelling so much grief I could hardly distinguish you from the wall and blood from herbs, that was hurtful," the black tom hissed, baring his fangs and flattening his ears. But then, for a second, he had to catch his breath, and although he would never admit it this yowling was hurting his ears. Finally, he just couldn't scream anymore, and he stopped thrashing. "Your not bad to some. Just me," he said quietly, suddenly feeling like he was about to explode into a river. "You aren't supposed to swear, especially not at those you care about..." but then he just trailed off and placed both paws over his milky eyes, his chest and sides beginning that rapid heaving. Batpaw, just breath....

"I want my sight back, and the mentor that I remember." Only then did he realize that he'd said 'back'. He fell silent, unable to even breath because the grief was welling so much. Was Windtail always this way? If he was, then how did I even manage to maintain sanity... maybe something happened to him-... do I have amnesia?

"I suppouse." She yawned lightly before falling asleep. She was quite tired, but knew she was sure to be well rested by tomorrow. Just then, when the den fell silent, rain drops were heard outside. A light shower of rain had come in.

Moments before the rain began to drop, he burried the remains of the mouse. He gave a quick stretch to his paws before going off to the warriors den, carefully stepping over sleeping bodies when stopping by LeopardFurs."LeopardFur." He whisperd quietly, not to awake any of the other warriors as he gave the deputy a light nudge."I need to report a thing." He added quietly.

He didn´t hurt back his apprentice. His ears fell low at the words the apprentice spoke. They were hurtful, but they were the truth."If you want to find a way home, I will be waiting for you by that oak." He spoke coldly and padded off, tail and ears low as the rain coverd his pelt with water.

Batpaw just laid there, sniffing miserably. Then, it started raining. The ebony tom shivered, his short pelt quickly becoming saturated. As his mentor padded away, he got up and just began running, not even sure where he was going. The pain, the uncertainty, the guilt, the memories- why him? Unable to see, the rain muffling all scent and smell, the young tom quickly grew lost. But he didn't care.

"Why? Why? Why can I not just be normal-" suddenly, he felt his paws go from beneath him, and his entire being coated in water. The river! No no no no... "Hel-" he tried to yowl, but it was cut off as he was swept away. After a few seconds, the petite creature managed to grab a rock jutting from the river, but he just couldn't pull the bottom half of his body up.

He turned to look back, at what sounded like a yowl. He couldn´t see the apprentice, but still decided to look for him. Silently, he moved through the rain, trying to follow what was left of the apprentices scent.

I can't hold on much longer- why didn't I just stay home? The young tom gasped, feeling his long claws slip just a bit. His entire tiny body shuttered. Starclan's punishing me.. Another slip. Desperation hit him hard, and he released on more yowl. "Windtail, heelp-" But then, another negative thought crossed him, even as more water choked him. Windtail really doesn't like me... he didn't deny it... why would he come looking for me? He's not to blame for this, and then it'll really only be himself and Sunpaw.... Maybe it was the rain, or just a lack of confidence, but Batpaw soon found himself hanging by a paw.

(Snailpaw is waiting for her mentor to return from the hunting patrol. But it's late in the evening, so I suppose everyone's heading to their nests?)

At the sound of screaming, both Snailpaw and Antlerclaw looked towards the arguing medicine cats.

Snailpaw strained her gaze, able to make out Batpaw's dark body against the quickly darkening camp as night began to envelope the camp. She remembered with a slight pang of pity that Batpaw did not have his sight. And despite the yelling that had happened moments ago, she wasn't sure if that was what the argument was about or not. Since he was a medicine cat apprentice, he didn't normally sleep in the apprentices' den. So she wouldn't be able to talk with him if he needed someone to speak with. She blinked as araindrop landed square in her vision and she shook her head, fluffing her coat out against the chill. Then the two parted ways.
"Mhm..." she started, noticing Batpaw was straying outside camp. Almost numbly, she rose to her paws and followed after him nervously. He was a medicine cat apprentice. Surely he knew what he was doing? Then she realized with a sickening feeling in her gut that he was very close to the river. She bounded towards him, but wasn't fast enough before the river snatched him. She bristled, hurrying over and, hopefully, alerting his mentor with a shriek of, "Batpaw!"
