SunClan's Story [New Thread]

Miststep began to hear voices and froze, suddenly nervous. She'd been so focused on finding her clan, she hadn't thought about what she'd actually do when she got there. She was barely a FlameClan cat anymore; time had washed the scent from her fur, and they would all think she was dead. She looked up as she heard Eaglestar's voice, calling out the familiar words of the ceremony. Not letting her think too long about it and loose her nerve, she pushed through the grasses into the open.

Eaglestar smiled as the cats gathered below. "Welcome, SunClan!" she called out. She was looking over her clan proudly when a movement at the back caught her eye. Someone returning to the camp. She hadn't given anyone permission to leave; who would be returning now? The leader squinted, trying to get a better look at the small silver figure. Her eyes widened as she saw the familiar face. She was frozen for a moment, unsure what to do.

Stormpaw blinked in curiosity at the new cat, who she did not recognize. For a moment she forgot about Cherryleaf, who had gestured for the younger she-cat to sit beside her. When she relaxed, seeing that the new cat wasn't a threat, she sat down beside Cherryleaf, now with her mind focused on her aching paw.

{Miststep was left behind after the fire (about 3 months ago), so FlameClan cats would probably recognize her, even if they don't know her well.}

Eaglestar leaped to the ground, not bothering to go the easier way through the lower branches. She landed heavily, but didn't stumble. Ignoring the stares from the clan, she hurried through the cats, slowing as she approached Miststep. Her green eyes flickered from side to side as she searched her friend's face, noting the new scars and missing ear.
"Miststep?" she breathed, hardly daring to believe it.

Miststep lowered her head self consciously as heads began to turn towards her. She saw Eaglestar jump down from the tree, weaving quickly between the cats--cats mixed from members of each of the three clans. Soon, her old friend, practically her sister, stood before her. Miststep's first impression was that Eaglestar looked...older. It had only been three moons, but Eaglestar looked as if she'd aged years. Eaglestar said her name, quietly, and Miststep nodded, a lump in her throat. She blinked quickly, her eyes shining.

Tigerclaw turned his head in disbelief to see Miststep. He purred with relief seeing the she-cat had made it.

ThistleFang for the first time since the journey felt his eyes widened in shock. Miststep had been his mentor and when the fire had struck, he'd thought he'd lost her to the flames. "Miststep!" the normally unfazed warrior was the first to race towards her. As he got closer he felt a bit of doubt, but that was replaced once he'd seen her familiar features, and recognition helped him see that this was indeed his former mentor.

((lol hope this is alright. Making MistStep his former mentor I mean! If not I'll change it. I just wanted to give him some emotion.))

Miststep smiled at Eaglestar, her smile widening into a grin as she spotted Thistlefang. She'd thought she'd scented him as she tracked the clan, but she hadn't been sure. So many had been lost; she was glad Thistlefang, her first apprentice, had made it.

"...I thought you were dead." said Eaglestar weakly. Recovering from her shock, she stepped forwards, touching her nose lightly to her friend's. She stepped back, looking up to look Miststep in the eye. So long, thinking she'd lost all of the cats she'd considered her family. Whitestar, Smokefur, Nightclaw...Miststep. A smile found it's way onto Eaglestar's face, and she stepped forwards again, nuzzling Miststep's neck as she breathed in her scent.
"Thank StarClan you're alright."
