She purred, hoping Tatteredpaw would take her up on that offer. Even though she’d be a warrior soon, she didn’t really have many friends among the warriors besides her mentor. It would be fun to have an excuse to spend time helping the apprentices. Her shoulders sagged a bit disappointed that Tatteredpaw hadn’t any see her either but the news was about what she’d been expecting. Something was definitely off here. Now that she was actually paying attention the fresh scents that usually littered all around the camp, a strange mix of disorienting and deeply comforting, was muted and old with only a few newer ones on the surface. She gave a small chuckle at Tattered paws last comment though it trailed off when she realized she hadn’t seen hide nor tail of her mentor yet today either. Opalpaw followed after Sagepaw into the warrior den, an increasing feeling of discomfort growing in her chest. She stuck her face into Cedarshine’s nest, inhaling deeply. Sagepaw was right, nobody had been on this nest for hours. At the sound of Thornbreeze’s voice she sat up and stiffened, “oh, um sor-” She meowed quickly, she remembered Mudfoot’s comment she’d overheard the other day and stopped, he’d told Ripplestar she was a pushover! Her fur bristled a bit. “It’s not snooping, we’re allowed to be in the warriors den since I’m going to be a warrior soon!” She meowed indignantly, “Besides, we’re here on important business, have you seen Cedarshine yet today?” She asked.

The loner scoffed, “Come back in a couple weeks and I’ll be running faster on three than you with all four.” He purred confidently a bit of a challenge in his voice. He used to love to race when he’d been a young cat, sure it was kitten’s play, but perhaps once we was better Fernsnap might… He scowled and shook his head, bad enough he need the help of a clan cat, he couldn’t let himself start daydreaming. She seemed nice, she really did, but her clan came first and besides, the moment he could hunt she’d be gone. “Hmm?” He meowed, shaking his head out of his thoughts and watching her as she climbed up a dune heading towards her territory. “Yah, see you later.” He called back, silently wishing the warrior luck on her way back, it was highly unlikely she’d have any trouble in the short distance between here and her home but one can never be too sure. Redfur sighed and stretched, winsing at his forelimb as he extended it. Funny how things hurt less when your distracted he thought dryly to himself as he sat up and limped into the cover of the trees.
