Kestrelclaw heard a soft thump and felt a small vibration travel through the stick and up his paw, telling him that Sootpaw had landed on his target correctly. Opening his eyes, Kestrelclaw gave a purr. "Nice job, pal! Could hardly hear you creepin' up on me, and by the time I did, you'ere too quick to pounce for me to move the stick outta the way first. Let's move on." Picking up the stick once again, the pale-furred tom mumbled around it, "Sometimes, even if you're real quiet, prey can still notice you and make a dash for it. When that happens, you better be ready to go fast!" He crouched low to the ground, the stick still in his mouth. "Pretend I'mma mouse. Or, I guess, this stick is the mouse. But since sticks don't run, I'll be runnin' for it! Chase me down, pin me down, and snatch up this here 'mouse' b'fore I toss it into the river. You got 10 seconds to do this. Go!" Kicking off with his back paws, Kestrelclaw sprinted off towards the other side of the clearing, the twig held firmly in his mouth. The training field was wide and circular and he planned to go all the way around it once he reached the edge. This would take him around 10 seconds, just enough time for Sootpaw to try to catch him.
