Snowstorm beat her wings, flying close and leaving a trail in the vast expanse of saltwater. The sun was nearly gone and cast eerie shadows from behind the mountains, and a dark, looming shape was appearing closer on the horizon. Bayou flew close to her side, and the IceWing took a breath. The lost home of the NightWings, and they were nearly there. Snowstorm glanced over her shoulder at Rift, and called to the SeaWing, "Can you see anything? You have better night vision than any of us."

Sure he does, Starkeeper thought, casting a glance at the SeaWing. She turned her gaze forward, noting how IceWings had terrible night vision. I better stay quiet for now. Pathfinder?

Rift gazed around at the eerie night, rippling with the odd green filter his night vision provided. "There's a weird mountain... thing," he responded lamely. It did look like a mountain, but it was black as could be, even with the greenish tint. "It doesn't look normal. Could it be the volcano?"

Snowstorm glanced back ahead of her at the pitch-black shape. "Most likely. We've been flying for quite a while now, so no doubt we've reached it already. Let's just hope it's completely abandoned."

I'm here. Pathfinder, blending into the creeping night with silent wingbeats, was slowly following them from afar. He wished he could hear the other dragonets' minds, but at least he could hear Bayou's. He snorted mentally as the burly MudWing, who looked so brave and daunting, was thinking nervous thoughts about what could be on the island.
