Silverspark began chanting his name. "Beartalon! Beartalon! Beartalon!"

Redstar waited for the chanting to die down. "Now, in other news, many of you are wondering what happened today. On our hunting patrol, Moonsong, Partridgepaw, and I ran into a small group of rogues at the Basking Stones. They were trying to take over our territory, but underestimated us. We fought them off, but I know they won't stop there. I know they will be back. Beartalon and Tallshadow, I want you to lead a patrol over to the Basking Stones and make sure they are gone. Take two other warriors with you. If you find any sign of them not being gone, report back to me. Do not attack them yourselves. They are equal to three highly trained warriors, and it was hard even for us to fight them off. You are dismissed." He leaped down from the Highbranch and padded over to the medicine den to get his wounds treated.

Stallioncry nudged Beartalon. "I knew it!" he meowed happily. "But it looks like our walk is going to have to wait, you have your first deputy mission to attend to!" The dusty tom was happy for his clanmate, he was proud of Beartalon, but he was also disappointed. Now that Beartalon was deputy he wouldn't have time to spend with Stallioncry. He knew it was selfish but he couldn't help it.

Beartalon smiled at Stallioncry. "Yeah, the walk will have to wait. But for now," He did a silly little bow, "Will you come on my patrol?" Turning his head, he mewed, "Silverspark, come with us, will you?"

Stallioncry brightened. "Sure thing!" he meowed. He waited readily beside Beartalon. With all the excitement over Beartalon he had completely forgotten the severity of the mission. They were going to spy on the rogues that had invaded their territory. If it came to a fight, he wanted Raptorfang there beside him. His sister was a formidable enemy, he'd seen her cut down six warriors just to get to him as he was pinned down. Whether she admitted it or not, she loved her brother dearly, and would do anything to protect him. "Should we bring a backup patrol just in case the rogues attack us?" he asked Beartalon.

Silverspark nodded and padded up to the new deputy. "Actually, I like the sound of that. A backup patrol is a good idea," she meowed, supporting Stallioncry's idea. Her tail curled up slightly.

"Well, Tallshadow is already doing that, so I think we have that covered." Beartalon turned to Stallioncry. "Should I bring Raptorfang? She's a good warrior."

Stallioncry nodded. "Yes please," he meowed. "I like to have her by my side when I'm running whiskers-first into ttouble." There was a joking tone in his voice, but his eyes betrayed him.

Scanning the camp's clearing, Beartalon called out, "Raptorfang! Come with my patrol, please." Before turning to the other members of the patrol. "Cone we get Raptorfang, let's get going, okay?"

Raptorfang hissed in annoyance. She flicked her tail farewell to the tom and stalked over to join the patrol. "You ruined my morning," she growled at her brother.

Stallioncry cuffed her over the ear. "Deputy's orders, you lazy furball," he replied.
