"It's all my fault" I said in a quiet mew "I should have been here but instead I was out hunting with Tanglefur" I ran from Thorngaze and towards the river. There were fireflies flying around. It reminded me of my first night with Tanglefur in Treeclan. We had escaped from camp, gone to a stream, watched the fireflies, and had fallen asleep under the stars. I looked away from the flashing bugs. I didn't know what to do. Tanglefur was expecting MY kits, I couldn't just abandon her.

He looked at Owlkit and giggled. "Well, that's a good name, but we'll have to think of something a little shorter than that." He playfully licked Rowanscar on the cheek. "How about...ForestClan? Our own little paradise." He felt happy, then turned as he heard Ashlight's voice. Having seen her spiraling, he knew how dangerous she was. Burningleaf stood protectively in front of his little family. "Better than you, becoming a killer because you couldn't get past the fact that your mate died." He was bitter and cold to the she-cat.

Thorngaze couldnt take it anymore. "You wont find Sageleap.......Sh-Shes dead, Willowsplash. Shes dead and I couldn't save her. Im so sorry." Thorngaze broke into sobs.

"Oh yes! Ive just killed another, right now, Her name was Sageleap, and she was so easy to kill." Ashlight laughed. "Oh, little kit, whats your name? Are you scared of me? Dont worry, you don't need to be unless you get on my bad side."

"Please..." She grunted as she tried to lift herself. "I want to see her..." The last bits of life she was holding on to was fading rapidly.

She snarled mournfully, "I knew her. HOW dare you kill her. SHE WAS MY FRIEND." She started tearing up and bared her teeth. She unsheathed her claws and stepped in front of her family. Redriver flinched and stood protectively in front of the family.

She felt her heart drop. "What...what did you just say?" She dug her claws into the ground. Without waiting for an answer, she put her nose to the air and followed the scent trail to her mate. Surely, Thorngaze was just...helping Sageleap pull off a surprise! That's it! And that's why Sageleap had mouthed to her to meet her in the woods...yeah, that's it. That's what has to be happening.
She stopped. She saw Wolfstar dipping his head over the body of a cat. Willowsplash knew that fur. That body. Those eyes, open and staring into nothingness. She let out a wail that she couldn't quite control. She took the last remaining steps towards her fallen mate and played her head on her shoulder. She was still breathing. But barely. "Sageleap, I'm here, I'm here, I'm so sorry I wasn't here sooner, I could have helped I could have done something I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm so sorry."

She nearly lifted herself up the ground and licked her but she didn't have the strength to. "Hi, Willowsplash. I'm sorry to-" She broke into a coughing fit. "I tried, I really did." She smiled a small blood clot at the side of her mouth. "Every time you go to visit sarclan, I'll be there for you, I'll miss you, my love." She waited for her words to sink in.

He stared horrified at his mentor's body. "Sageleap!" He mouthed quietly as he unsheathed his claws near the bloody she-cat. He ran off and bumped into Silentpaw whispering to Copperstrike. "I want in." Silentpaw was shocked to see his mouth move in that way. He bared his teeth and his claws were fully unsheathed. The normally gentle, kind, quiet apprentice she knew had turned opposite.
