By this time, the three cats were out of line, and deciding to get as far away as possible, Yuccapaw took the lead, gratefully accepting any help that Cardinalswipe offered for directions. Over the moon, her mood had lightened, and now she wore what resembled a smile. Suddenly she stopped, maw parted and ears pricked as she turned around to face Cricketpaw, her eyes shinning. Momentarily, she pushed away any anger she felt towards the tom in order to let her excited run free. "Do you smell that?" She mewed excitedly, her paws tingling with excitement.

Brighteyes briefly pressed her nose to his flank, taking in the scent of death. "We should get him back to camp." She mewed distantly.

Koipaw watched as the tom moved away from his sister, and sighed. You shouldn't do that... He thought to himself, as if talking to the other apprentice. You should enjoy her company whilst you have it... The young tom twitched his ears as she asked if he'd like to train with her. He hadn't really trained for a while, so he'd be rusty. "I-" He began, then spun his head around, leaping to his paws and bounding from the rock. "Let's go find out!" He called to the two, not looking over his shoulder.

"Yeah, it the smell of blood." Cricketpaw meowed, finally happy Yuccapaw had finally smiled.

Scarletfeather nodded. "Alright." She meowed, grabbing his scurff.

[-Bacon]

Yuccapaw's gaze clouded with confusion, Blood? She repeated, parting her maw to breath in the scent once more. Her eyes grew wide with worry, "You're right..." She breathed in horror, "But who's?!" Suddenly she raised her pace to a sprint, any sign of tiredness vanishing. "We have to find out who's it is!" She breathed hoarsely.

Brighteyes nodded solemnly, and With Rootclaw, picked up the sides of his body and began to haul the elderly tom back to camp.

"Find out than." Cricketpaw meowed calmly.

Yuccapaw rolled her eyes, and then picked up her speed even more. It felt as if she had been running for moons, until she reached a pool of blood. Although she knew that it was Clan blood, she had been away from the Clan for too long to decipher who it belonged too. Anxiously she waited for the others to catch up, wondering if they'd have any ideas.

As the cats carried Darkstar's limp body into camp, Brighteyes could hear the terrified yowling, and horrified whispers travel around camp. As soon as they lay his body in the center of the clearing, Zinniapaw was at his side. The stench of death wreaked on his pelt, so she didn't even try to check, it was pretty clear. She began to wash the blood from his pelt, and cover the scent with Rosemary and Lavender, then carefully curled his body into a ball. It looked as if he were sleeping peacefully, as if her were still alive.

"Its Darkstars," Cricketpaw meowed.

Scarletfeather burried her nose into his neck. "Good-bye, my love." She whispered.

[-Bacon]

Brighteyes decided to sit back, and mourn from a distance. She thought it better to let Scarletfeather, who was rather close to the tom, say what she wished to without the prying ears of others.

Yuccapaw starred down at the pool, now wishing that they had never scented it. "He's lost too much blood to still be alive..." She heard Cardinalswipe whisper to himself, echoing her own fears. "Now we really need to get back..." She meowed, gulping worriedly.

Cricketpaw nodded in agreement. "Yes, lets." He meowed.

"May StarClan light your Path." Scarletfeather meowed, stepping back.

Zinniapaw watched the she-cat with grave, light green eyes. "Scarletfeather," She mewed softly, knowing that it was her job to remain strong, "You must travel to the moonstone tonight to receive your nine lives." She told her, gently pressing her pelt to her deputy's in comfort.

Yuccapaw began to trot towards camp once more, keeping next to the two toms.

Scarletfeather nodded. "I know." She meowed, then herd a loud, sharp yowl coming from the medicine cat's den. "Silentgaze!" She yowled, racing towards to the sound. Too late. Silentgaze was dead. "What? How did all this happen?!"

Cricketpaw soon entered camp. He saw the remains of his dead leader. "Oh my."
