She walked out of the warrior's den, watching her clanmates, only to recognize that again she was slept little bit too late, but was it a big matter when she was not even needed anywhere.

After leaving the forest for nobody the two wolf-dogs walked for some time before finding a river to drink at. Flicking her ears she looked around her for any prey but was nervous she was find the faint scent of other dogs a while ago, but she was not sure if those dogs were just walking past or maybe a dog who belonged to a pack.

He flicked his large ears as he gets down to drink next to his sister, licking his lips as he lifts his head up "...we better keep going, so we don't run into anyone who wants to kill us" he said to his sister, perking his ears for any sounds.

Quickleap smiled grimly, watching Dappleheart's wounds being tended. He, for one, had never gotten seriously injured other than when he was a small pup. When I was an idiot, he scolded himself, dismissing the gush of memories. "I'm going to go hunting. I won't be gone all day." He dipped his head at the dogs present, smiled a bit at Foxpaw's newly-found fascination, and climbed up the tunnel, out of the medicine den.

Lupinpaw laughed. "You'll catch one someday. But you're right, rabbits are nicer. Tender, too." The apprentice could actually remember the day he had caught his first hare. He had been thrilled. It was very lifting, putting your first hare on the prey-pile, and sneaking around in the bushes to see who would eat it.

He eventually finished pulling the briars out and sat back with a sigh, chewing more chervil. "Thank you for everything, Quickleap," Azurepaw said in a muffled voice and spat the juice onto Dappleheart's various wounds. He applied more cobwebs on top and warned, "I wouldn't move for a while, so I would recommend that you keep laying in your nest until the paste dries." The medicine dog apprentice turned and saw that the other she-dog had listened, remaining where she was. However, she had a sort of curiosity in her eyes. Azurepaw couldn't help but smile and wag his tail. "If you're going to stay here, do you mind helping me clean up these thorns?" he asked, unsure if she would even take up the offer. He wanted to try.

Doepaw brightened up a bit at Lupinpaw's words of encouragement and nodded fervently,
"Good point! I'm sure I'll get one soon..." The young apprentice trailed off before cocking her head to the side, suddenly curious about something. "How old were you when you caught your first hare...or rabbit? It was probably really great, huh?" She shoved all bitterness over her lackluster hunting skills aside and stared at Lupinpaw with wide eyes. Surely the older apprentice caught his first hare moons before she came to Skypack. Alas, Doepaw hadn't talked much to Lupinpaw about experiences they'd had before she'd joined Skypack, and topics like this had never really come up before.

He grinned. "I was seven moons old." Memories of that day came flooding back, and Lupinpaw felt pride even at this time for his catch. "My first try, too. Nightfire and I were out hunting, and one darted out of a bush, so I chased it. It stood no chance against me! Before it could dart across the border, I caught it's leg and finished it off." He nodded, finishing his story. Hah! That hare had had no idea.

Doepaw laughed lightly and nudged Lupinpaw with her shoulder.
"You caught it on your first try?! I didn't know you were that good at hunting!" The red and black Belgian Turvuren let out another short laugh, her tail wagging slightly at the thought of catching a hare. Sometimes, she liked to imagine chasing after one and actually catching it, and Dappleheart praising her for a good catch. "Ooh, did you see who ate it? If I caught a hare, I'd watch it like a hawk to see who wanted it!" Who was she kidding, of course Lupinpaw saw who ate it! When Doepaw lived with her family and went by just Doe, she'd caught her first prey, a rather old and weak deer. Of course, she'd had help from her mother, but she'd still sat and waited all day to see which of her kin would eat from it first.

Dappleheart whimpered a bit as her wounds were finished being treated. “Thank you, I’ll lay in. The sun for today, I’ve had enough of being cooped up in dens for today.” She said, standing slowly, collapsing at first before managing to stand and crawl out of the den, dragging one of her hind legs as she made her way to a nice sunny spot, too exhausted and pained to even think about grabbing anything from the fresh kill pile.

She'd never really settled down as calmly as she wanted the other dogs in the den to believe, so when Azurepaw spoke to her, she jumped. She was so stunned, being pulled out of her trance, that she forgot how to respond for several seconds. He wanted her help? "R-really?" she asked, her tail wagging to reveal her eagerness against her better senses. She couldn't believe he was offering to let a stranger help him treat his own packmate (especially after he'd subtly dissed her)! However, she knew better than to let herself be enraptured by the offer of an outsider, or at least to show how much she already was. She raked her brain for an excuse when, conveniently, the final touches were put on Dappleheart's wounds. The she-dog, clearly the type that was easily bored, was already exiting the medicine den. "Oh no, look at that! She's healed..." Her head drooping awkwardly, she looked off to the side while murmuring, "W-well, wait...I'm not n-not happy because she isn't injured anymore, because that would be kind of mean, but still... Darnit..." She figured that horrible moment marked the end of the discussion, when she glanced up just long enough to realize her mistake. Oh. OH. He literally meant help to clear the den, not with healing...uhhhhhhhh - "Oh, wait, never mind!" she said, hurriedly. Laughing nervously, she stammered, "W-well, not never mind because I'm going to help, because I'm i-injured and all that, so I - I can't - right? - I mean never mind b-because I thought you meant health, um, help, with h-healing...because, you know...I'm a medicine dog..." Her voice trailed off, poison to her own ears. Her face burned with embarrassment at how clearly anxious she'd become in a matter of seconds.

Quickleap enhaled the crisp morning air, relieved to have escaped the stuffy medicine den. However, that was not the reason for him to leave, nor was the ever diminishing prey-pile. The aussie had many confusing thoughts and ideas about Foxpaw that he needed to sort out. But I can hunt along the way. He leaped lightly over a fallen treetrunk, while thinking. A medicine dog apprentice is highly valuable. Riverpack wouldn't just let her go. I wonder why they haven't come to find her. It's a long ways, but surely her scent is strong. Quickleap nearly fell off the branch he was so precariously standing on as a new thought struck him. Nightfire stayed to keep watch last night, and didn't return. What if... they did come for her? The thought was absurd, ridiculous, but Quickleap could, quite clearly, see advantages to it. Skypack was so short on dogs... having one more dog around, a medicine dog, would most certainly be beneficial...
