Ivycloud crouched down after smelling a vole. She crept towards it stealthily, then pounced. In a heartbeat, she had a body of a limp vole in her jaws.

Coalpelt finished hunting and padded over to Ivycloud,she had 2 mice in her jaws and a finch

Larkpaw hung her head. "Y...yes. I'm really sorry for losing control again. I don't mean to."

"Ready to go back?" Ivycloud asked, her voice muffled from the vole.

"Hey," Batfang greeted his sister. "How'd collecting herbs with Firepaw go?"

"She's dead?" Mallowshade could feel tears springing towards her eyes but she pushed them back. "I...I'll tell Spiritfur. But how are we going to stop the Dark-" She cut herself off when her father faded away and heaved a heavy sigh. Her heart felt twisted and cracked and her mind was bursting with questions. Why did the Dark Forest suddenly attack? It wasn't unlike them, but why had they chosen now? Why did Gingerfur have to die? Who killed her? What good would come from telling anyone? Spiritfur had a strong connection with StarClan— everybody knew that. But still, what could the medicine cat do to prevent any more from happening? She felt as if she was having an anxiety attack, but she knew that she had to be strong. Her Clanmates couldn't know about this— not yet anyway. She would tell Spiritfur when she got the chance, and maybe Batfang too, since she believed that secrets shouldn't be kept from littermates. But everybody else was going to be in the dark, completely unaware of the terrible threat that had just been made against StarClan, and, most likely, against AshClan as well.

Firepaw padded to the med den and placed the feverfew in a pile.

Larkpaw smiled when her mentor licked her head. It seemed Jaywing was the only cat who understood her anger. Still up in the clouds, Larkpaw ran back to camp, dropping the mouse on the fresh-kill pile.
