Rockpaw went limp in her grip, relaxing, and slipped out of her grasp, slippery as a fish. He quickly turned on her and battered her with his forepaws.

[Shezza.]

Darkstar fell to the side as if she where actually hurt. She stopped and lie there.

[Dipstick]

Rockpaw's neutral expression turned into a worried one when his leader fell and laid still. "Darkstar?" He stepped closer and lifted one paw to nudge her. He bent close and sniffed her flank where he had landed a few blows. There was no blood, but he knew he could have just as well injured her internally. "Darkstar?" He repeated and nudged her.

[Shezza.]

Darkstar jumped up and tackled Rockpaw and pinned him hard. "Surprise. Always use surprise" She steps back. "That was good."

[Dipstick]

Rockpaw's eyes widened in surprise when his leader jumped up and tackled him, then pinned him. "I'll remember that." He mewed when she commented at the element of surprise. He stood up and shook his pelt off and gave his neck fur a few self-conscious licks when she praised him. "You really think so?" He looked up at the darkening sky.

[Shezza.]

"Yes, do you want to try to catch something or do you want me to catch it for you?" Darkstar teased.

[Dipstick]

Rockpaw huffed. Amusement glittered in his eyes. "I think I can manage." He went over to the edge of the clearing and walked a few pawsteps into the undergrowth. Pausing when he heard scrabbling, he angled his ears to find out where the sound was coming from. He pinpointed the location and started stalking just like Darkstar showed him. When he was close enough to see his prey, a squirrel digging for acorns at the base of an oak tree, he lunged and pounced on it, breaking it's spine. He picked up the squirrel and proudly carried his catch back to Darkstar. "See? Told you." He gazed once again at the light fading in the sky. "I think we should get back. It's getting dark..." His tail tip twitched.

Darkstar smiles. "Go to camp. Im gonna stay out here for a little." She smiles.

Forestheart got to her paws and climbed up the tree. She slid across the branch and and she turned so she was facing one way. She got into a crouch and waited. She saw a leaf rustle and a small shrew crawl out and start on a nut. She got ready then dropped down on the shrew. She quickly killed it and buiried it. "You just have to stay still. And maybe have alot of patience. Now you try! You should definatley catch something with that." she said.

Falconpaw jumped up the tree and selected a smaller branch. He copied his mentors crouch and waited. And waited. He finally saw a vole and he waited until it was under him, then he dropped down. He caught its hind and he dragged it back, then he killed it and covered it with some leaves.

Forestheart was very surprised but proud of her apprentice nonetheless. "That was great! Usually they dont catch things that fast, even with that technique. Well done. I believe we can start battle training since we have some time." She paused. "I wasn't the best in fighting, I enjoyed hunting more. But I had a great mentor and he taught me well. But lets start!" she paused again. "Attack me first. I want to see what you have learned from observing the apprentices.

[Dipstick]

Rockpaw dipped his head, still holding his squirrel. "Yes Darkstar." He mumbled around it. Rockpaw started toward the camp in a fast trot. He couldn't wait to tell his father how well he did. Ashfang waited just inside the camp entrance. He knew his son would be back soon. He crouched in the shadows, wanting to see if Rockpaw could sniff him out.

Rockpaw appeared no longer than a minute later. He set down his squirrel and scented the air. "Ashfang?" Rockpaw looked around. Ashfang tensed his muscles and sprang. He landed right on Rockpaw's back. Rockpaw yowled and rolled over, squashing his father. He flipped over and started pummeling his father's belly with his hind paws while he pinned him by his shoulders. Ashfang gathered his paws under him and kicked Rockpaw off as hard as he could. Rockpaw twisted in the air and landed on all fours. Ashfang quickly recovered.

"Darkstar taught you well." Ashfang said to his son. "Yes, she is a good mentor." Rockpaw replied and dipped his head. Ashfang flicked his tail tip and went back to grab Rockpaw's squirrel. He carried it to the fresh-kill pile and took a thrush for himself, heading for the warriors den. Rockpaw also went to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a mouse, then laid down near the apprentices den to eat it.
