Foxpaw trudged out and blood was crusted in her fur, and still oozing slowly out but not as bad. She gazed bleakly up at Greenstar.

Greenstar began, "I have two orders of buisness today. The first thing I would like to say, is to Foxpaw. There is something I have to say." He took a deep breath, "The only reason I treated you like that, is because...... you are my daughter, Yellowstripe's and mine."

Foxpaw jumped back in surprise. She had thought her parents had been killed by foxes... she saw her mother die...but not her father. Could it be true? "H-How...." she stammered, stunned. Her eyes widened in shock.

Snowpool looked up at Greenstar after he said that. A small amount of shock on her face. She had just been coming out of the nursery, checking on Amberkit, when he said it. How interesting. So that is why he lashed out the way he did, he didn't want to lose his own kit the same way. She thought.

Foxpaw sat on the ground, now furious. She got up and walked away, tail lashing. Why hadn't he told her before? Maybe then she would've had a place of pride instead of loneliness and misery. While all of the other kits had been boasting about, oh how their parents where the best warrior and the deputy, she couldn't say anything because she thought her parents were dead. But really she could've said her father was leader!

Greenstar took a deep breath, "Foxpaw, a while ago, when you were still a kit, I was just made the deputy. You mother and I took you out into the forest, because you had wanted to see it so badly. We weren't far when two foxes attacked us. Yellowstripe and I defended you until we were ripped to shreds. I was knocked unconsious, but your mother managed to drive them out. She carried you back to the camp, but when she got to the entrance, she collapsed. Since then, I didn't want anything to do with you, because you reminded me of Yellowstripe. But when you fought the fox..... I realized I couldn't loose you as well. I'm sorry I kept this from you, but I do love you."

Snowpool quickly walked to Foxpaw who was walking away and laid her cream and white tail on the edge of Foxpaw's spine.
"Now, now, Foxpaw. Do you really want to walk away from this? Just think for a moment, hun, he's your father, and he's telling you now. Don' you think now is better than never?" Snowpool said, looking at Foxpaw and every now and again glancing at Greenstar.

Foxpaw turned, sadness played across her face. "Well maybe it would've been best to tell me when I was a kit, or not at all. I've been living my whole life thinking my father was dead, and it was hard. When all along you could've told me. Do you know how painful it was to watch every kits parents to come in and play with them while i sat in the corner thinking of how that will never happen?" she muttered, barely audible. She turned away and headed into the apprentices den.

Icefire blocked Foxpaw's way. "He's not done. There's more to the story."
Greenstar took another breath, his eyes flashing with the memories, "I would have told you. Snowpool was the one who changed by mind about this. After your mother was killed, Snowpool spoke with me, and I was planning on telling you, but later that day, FireClan attacked our camp. They knew I had a kit, they thought they could take a hostage, but they didn't know which one. I saw you hiding in the nursery with Snowpool, and it took all the courage I had to go to the old FireClan leader and tell him that my mate and kit had been killed by a pair of foxes. We won, but their leader was bloodthirsty, and he left with a promise that he would find out. But he was killed one day when FrostClan attacked their own camp for stealing prey. He was dead, but by the time that happened, you were an apprentice, and I knew you wouldn't have listened."

Foxpaw sighed, taking in what he said. He forgave him mentally and sat down looking at him with sad eyes. She slowly got up, raced to him and nuzzled her father grateful that he was here. "I'm sorry....I just can't believe it..." she muttered, tears springing to action.
