Ashfeather nodded and turned the direction of the river before continuing on. The question she has been eager to ask still buzzed in her mind like a thousand flies. Do it now. She thought sternly to herself. "So have you ever wanted a family?" She finally asked. She needed to know if he ever wanted kits, since after all he is her mate.

The sleek black tom grinned brightly, flicking his tail tip. He puffed out his chest fur slightly with pride, and he began to reminisce on his warrior ceremony. Wow, am I really that old? That was a while ago.

The blackish brown tabby tom gave her a soft smile, as she fell asleep next to him. She must've been really tired. He thought, curling his tail around his paws.

The brown and white tabby tom followed her mindlessly, and nodded, his whiskers twitching. "Actually I have. But, that'd be completely up to you if we do, or if it's even with me." His ears heated up in slight embarrassment, and his voice seemed to get quieter.

Ashfeather nodded and fell silence. She padded on, blue and green eyes gazing around. When they reached the river, she smiled playfully and backed up a bit before running and launching herself into the water. The current wasn't strong today, the river was calm. She paddled to a more shallow area and laughed, making a splash with her paw.

Aridstar watched the new warriors run below high rock. She joined in with chanting the new warrior's names. In just a moon, they would get an arranged mate. She knew she had to start choosing who gets arranged with who before that time came. It was a long and thoughtful process, and often ended up with disagreement. Rather than matching up warriors by how close they were, she tried matching them up with two cats who would support each other well. Not many matches she made ever worked out well. A lot of the time, everything ended up with cats getting exiled or killed. There are many different ways a cat can get killed from disobeying the most important code. Death berries, long falls, smashing their head on a rock, and attacking them are a few ways. Not to mention the leader or oldest elder (if they volunteer) has to be the one to kill them.

"Meeting dismissed" she called out to the clan, hopping down from high rock and watching everyone break apart.

Jaggedbreeze waited for the hunting patrol to leave. Her tail swished back and forth impatiently. She had caught a faint smell of prey drifting in the light wind, and was itching to follow it.

"Dear tummy, sorry about the butterflies.
It's not my fault. I swear. It's hers."

Owleyes chuckled when he noticed Shadewing's embarrassment when their pelts met. He looked over at the other apprentices who had not come over yet. I guess we still have some time until our vigil starts. Owleyes looked back over at Shadewing who was grooming her pelt. My pelt is pretty messy too. She-cats come first though. "Need some help? You need to look beautiful on the first day of being a warrior" he smiled, and never gave her time to answer his question. He took a step closer to her and started helping her groom her pelt, his pelt gently brushed hers as he did.

Flame bounded through the forest, chasing after a marsh rabbit. His paws pounded hard on the ground beneath him. As he neared the rabbit, he pounced using all of his strength and landed squarely on the fast prey. When he landed on the small marsh rabbit, his paw hit it neck just enough to immediately kill it. Flame picked it up in his maw and looked around his for any signs of predators before he headed back to his den, especially alligators.

Shadewing floundered, struggling to find words before Owleyes started grooming her pelt. "Oh! Thanks," she stammered, giving him an awkward few licks on the shoulder in return. "So... what have you been thinking about?" she murmured nervously through a mouthful of brown fur. "My mind's been stuck on the idea of getting a mate assigned to me. Pretty unfair, if you ask me!" The young she-cat tried to bring up the topic as smoothly and naturally as she could, but it was almost impossible to not be excited over the thing that had been burning in her mind for moons.

Owleyes thought hard about the question asked, and his answer wasn't anything special. Shadewing mentioned about the assigned mates so he responded with "I agree, I think its outrageous that we get arranged mates. We should be able to choose who we have as mates. Maybe someday it will happen, when this vile code has perished." He continued on to his answer to the question. "I have been wondering how my life as a warrior will turn out. Will I die young or old? Will I live strong or weak? Will I live anxious or patient? Lots of questions, I could go on." He went back to helping Shadewing groom her pelt, wondering how she would react to the mouthful he said.

Shadewing nodded, half disappointed and half relieved when Owleyes didn't dwell on the mates subject. "You're the strongest warrior I know," she murmured softly. "I've no doubt that you'll live a long, successful life. Maybe even leader some day, who knows." She paused, eyes twinkling. "If you do make it up there, you'd better make me deputy!" The tabby warrior said mischievously, pressing her muzzle affectionately against the gray tom's. "Anyhow, all I can see myself doing is staying around camp, maybe becoming a queen. No battling." She sighed. "It's funny, I'm a warrior who hates to fight. The exhilaration of battle is thrilling to some, but I can't stand it. I can't even hunt my prey without feeling sorry for it!" Another sigh. "Some warrior I'll make,"

the short furred kitten, eyes wide with wonder and longing, gazed out of the door that separated her from the unknown. with a dramatic sigh, princess flopped down and let out a sad meow, terribly bored of the restricted life that she lived. she wasn't even allowed to run in her house, her owners got angry at her when she did, let alone attack any of her toys like they were a piece of prey.

making up her mind, princess decided that she would pay the marshlands that teased her a little visit. she wouldn't be gone long, her owners wouldn't even notice her missing presence. glancing around the room that she was in and taking into consideration her small frame, princess quickly figured out the best way to squeeze out the opening and escape. putting her plan into action, the young cat made her way up the furniture and out of the window.

breathing in the fresh air that she rarely got to experience, princess made her way along the fence and then jumped down, letting out a meow of joy when her paws hit the dirt coated floor. "let's do this," she muttered to herself in determination, setting off on her journey that she'd longed to experience. the smells of the forest and marsh, the calls of the birds and the feel of the mud beneath her was enough to make the molly sprint into the dense layers of plants, unable to contain her excitement. she hoped that she'd meet one of the mysterious clan cats that she'd heard so much about, preferably her age.
