Odette bravely stepped out of the undergrowth towards the large brown tom, curling her lip defiantly to show him a row of shiny, white teeth. She would have looked ridiculous if it wasn't for her lashing tail, and her carefully unsheathed claws. "What do you want?" She demanded uncharacteristically, finding that her voice sounded much more gentle than she meant it too. She quickly turned and glanced at Birch's tree to see if he was still watching, and amusingly she found him cautiously peering out from the bright green leaves like a little squirrel.

Odette quickly shook her head. He didn't need to know about Birch. Besides, the poor kit was already scared out of his fur, and it didn't look like he would be coming down anytime soon. "No, only me." She replied coolly, eyeing him with distrust. "What about you?" She asked, trying to sound menacing, but not being able to be quite as intimidating as she hoped. "Where's your little patrol?"

After helping Twistedpaw gather sticks and twigs for the den expansion project, he returned the bundle to camp, his jaw aching from carrying the sticks for such a long distance. After delivering the pile to the warriors assigned to the project, he decided to visit Echosong for a thorn that had gotten wedged into his paw pad while he was gathering branches.

He carefully pushed through the ferns blocking the entrance to the medicine cat's den and peered inside, not being able to see a thing. "Hello, Echosong? Are you there?" He called into the darkness.

Echosong took a deep breath. She had just finished sorting her herbs after a few kits had tumbled through the day before and thrown things around when she noticed Eaglefeather walking in. She purred lightly, pushing a small fern blocking light from coming into the den making it more visible. "Hello Eaglefeather. What brings you to the medicine den? Your not carrying any herbs so I assume you did something to insure yourself. May I take a look?" she meow calm and lightly.

Odette looked at the clan cat through narrowed eyes. "You're not like the other clan cats that run into before." She remarked, flicking her tail irritably. "Are you a warrior or a sharpclawer, or something?" She asked, mispronouncing "sharpclaw" purposely. She didn't know why he was sitting, or why he seemed so relaxed. Odette became frustrated as she watched his calm expression. Wasn't she being threatening enough?

He stepped towards her, but when he did, he felt the familiar sharp stabbing pain in his paw pad. He held a front paw up as he dramatically limped closer, acting as if he had actually broken his paw instead of just a gotten a thorn or a splinter. "Look Echosong! I got something stuck in my paw. Hurry, get it out!" He called urgently, frantically shoving his paw in her direction. By now, his eyes were beginning to adjust to the darkness, and he observed the rows of recently organized herbs as he waited for Echosong.

"Yes, you're not like the others." She repeated bluntly as she sat down in front of him, her tail beginning to sweep the forest floor. "If you're from DarkClan, shouldn't you be chasing me off, or giving me a warning?" she asked, watching his gaze. "I mean, you're so relaxed, and you seem so polite, for an enemy."

⇨ Summer woke up with a yawn and crawled out of her den - if you could even call it that. It was more a makeshift den, made of a thicket of shrubs at the base of a tall tree. As much as she lacked proper housing, it was home for her, and when the day ended she was always thankful that she had somewhere to crawl into.

Stretching out her torso, Summer broke into a brisk trot, looking up with twitching ears as the sounds of the forest chirped and creaked and whistled. The sound of a nearby chickadee stood out to her, and she could see the small bird licking at seeds on the ground. She slowly approached, her feathery tail brushing plants, though her paw steps were quiet. Lunging forward, she stopped to realize that the bird had already fled. Frowning, she continued her solo hunt, picking up the scent of a shrew. Lowering herself, she watched it from a distance, and kept silent. But she scented something else, the border of the clan cats, and debated turning back. Stomach edging her on, she crept forward before sprinting at the creature, crossing the border into the clan's territory and reaching out at the shrew. Grabbing it with her claws, she stumbled, but managed to end its life before it could flee.
