TThornpaw bristled and replied, "I'm not a Leafclan cat anymore. I'm done with them. I want to join your clan."

Meadowpaw followed Frostfeather inside, staring at the ground as she tried to think of what to tell Thornpaw.

Larksnow sighed, about to say something when Meadowpaw and Frostfeather came in, a bloodied Stormpaw on the warrior's back. Gasping she jumped up and rushed to the two she-cats. "What happened, Frostfeather?"

Bone's eyes flashed. Could they trust this cat? Was he telling the truth or was he here to spy? His hazel gaze flicked to the healer den where he knew there leader lay sick. What would he do? His eyes widened to see Slash stumbling out of the den. He rushed over to help him. He winced at the heat he felt coming from his leader in waves.

Slash had heard the commotion outside the den and knew what he must do. He forced himself to his paws and struggled out of the den. He cast a thankful glance at Bone as he came to help him. As they neared the apprentice, he stepped away from Bone to stand proudly on his own four paws. He raised his chin and mewed "if you want to join us, then you must prove yourself. You will sit in the middle of the clearing for a circle of the sun. At this time tomorrow, you will go out and hunt for us before hunting for yourself." He paused. "This will all be done under the supervision of Blaze." He nodded to a dark ginger tom who was watching from the edge of the clearing.

Blaze stepped forward, dipping his head to slash before turning his gaze to Thornpaw.

Tigermoon's blue eyes flashed as he picked up the scent of badger on the young apprentice. He snarled. "If I find that bruit, he'll wish he was never born."

Frostfeather crouched down in the middle of the clearing and let Stormpaw slide off her shoulder. "We found him near the border. I followed the badger scent until it crossed the border." She glanced at Tigermoon. "It's gone for now."

Thornpaw's eyes widened, shock that the great Slash was sick. Nervously, he meowed, "Yes sir. I willingly accept." He lowered his head and sat in the middle of tyhe camp.

Larksnow glanced up at Tigermoon and watched him, interest over what he'd said filling her. Would he really, she wondered.

Meadowpaw's lower lip quivered as she tried really hard to hold in her despair. Weakly, with her voice shaking, she asked, "Has anyone seen T-thornpaw?"

Bone watched Thornpaw head to the center of camp. "That cat has truly lost everything." He murmured. He flicked his gaze back to Slash and was alarmed to see him start to collapse. He lunged foreword just in time to catch him. He carefully led him back to the den.

After Thornpaw had left, Slash felt all the strength, that he had mustered, slip away. He felt his chest tighten again. He couldn't breathe and he felt himself collapsing to the ground. Once again, Bone was there to help. With Bone helping him back to the den, Slash was able to focus on his breathing. Upon reaching the den, Slash collapsed back into the nest and unconsciousness quickly overtook him.

Tigermoon shook his head. "He may have gone out with his mentor." He replied, his claws still flexing in and out.

Thornpaw watched in alarm as Slash collapsed, wondering what happened, but quickly focused on the task ahead.

Meadowpaw nodded her thanks, deciding to wait for Thornpaw to come back. She curled up in a ball next to Stormpaw, no caring for any blood she got in her fur.

Larksnow watched the young apprentice, sympathy for her loss flooding her. She murmured, "That poor apprentice. She's lost almost everything." She shook her head. "Tigermoon, you're right. One apprentice isn't much, especially with us losing so many cats." Fear flooded through her and she swallowed back the wail threatening to escape. "W-what if all of the Leafclan cats disappear?"

xxxxxxxxafter slash returned to the medicine cat den, rani switched her focus to the supposedly former leafclan cat. her eyes narrowed as she watched the young tom, unsure of what to think about this. yes, he did say he no longer wanted to be apart of leafclan but who knows if leafclan is planning something against us, using him.

xxxxxxxxlionstrike padded through the territory, silent except for the sound of his paws treading on the crisp earth below. he glanced up at the treetops below and crouched low to the ground before lunging up to one of the branches. there he lay, his tail hanging down as he perched watching the forest floor below.
