Russetleap slowed down, her brow creasing as gaze became intense, fixed on the young apprentice. "Larkpaw?" She prompted the she-cat, wondering whether she was day dreaming, "Which way?"

Fireleaf purred, bounding after her, the best he could in the water. "Slow down!" He begged playfully, "I'll never reach you at that pace!"

Russetleap let out a mrrow of amused laughter at the apprentice's absent state of mind, and sighed. "Well, ok then..." She purred, and shrugged, turning to Thorntail, almost asking his permission. "Shall we just catch of few pieces of fresh-kill, and then head back instead?"

Thorntail turned his head and smiled at his beautiful mate. "Sounds good to me!" He stood to his paws, purring as he twined his half-tail with Russetleap's fluffy one.

Russetleap's purr grew louder at his touch, and gently she pressed her flank to his. Russetleap seemed to have forgotten to search for prey as they walked, just wanting to get back to camp to see her kit.

Russetleap sighed, though continuing to purr. "I just need to see Spottedkit," She mewed worriedly, "This is the longest I've ever left her on her own. Who knows what kind of trouble she's gotten into!"
